Re: The official Nico Lapentti's cheering thread!
You're welcome!I'll try to put it into English, in brief:
Nico said he saw Diego play and he thinks this kid has great conditions and a good potential. He's willing to help him, to make him avoid commiting mistakes (from lack of advice), as it often happens with players in the wake of their carrers.
Nico stressed it doesn't mean he's retirening from tennis himself. It's just the beginning of his project - he wants to start a school/create a group of young talented players in the future.. (the rest of the article is on how talented Diego Hidalgo is)
And as of the award, he got it for his brilliant performance in the Chall., and cause he is the first Guayaquilean and the 1st Ecuadorian(!) who manged to win this home event. He came to the ceremony accompanied by his mother (aw, so sweet), Mrs.María Cecilia Gómez de Lapentti, and by his physical trainer Mariano Gaute.
Btw: Nicolas defeated Aranguren in the 1st round of Lima CH, 6-2 7-5

Re: The official Nico Lapentti's cheering thread!
yeah thanks for translating. i think i don´t need to mention that what i mostly like is the fact that he pointed out that he´s not retiring from tennis ;-). but that he´s managing that young hope is good news, too of course.

Thanks for translating
I'm happy he's not retiring and I think it's a very good project for young talent I really like it that he wants to do something for upcoming players, he could also be thinking just about himself
And his mother has an impressive name, it sounds like real royalty

Re: The official Nico Lapentti's cheering thread!
Nico has started this season with La Serena Challenger, where he lost to David Marrero(362 ATP) in the QF, but prevailed in doubles [playing with Eduardo Schwank].
It's his 6th title (so far),

1999: ATP Adelaida, Australia (with Gustavo Kuerten<3)
1998: Ch. Merano, Italy (with Pablo Albano)
1997: ATP Amsterdam, Holland (with Paul Kilderry)
1997: ATP México D.F., México (with Daniel Orsanic<3)
1996: Ch. Quito, Ecuador (with Pablo Campana)
Next event: Viña del Mar!

Re: The official Nico Lapentti's cheering thread!
not the easiest one for Nico...good at least that he's playing doubles-with Jamie Murray as a partner- quite unusual joice, but we'll c how it works not very lucky in this draw either, as they are facing nr2 seeded pair: Martin Garcia/Pablito Cuevas
