Both Nico and Agustin are out of singles now, plenty of time to focus on their doubles.Good luck xicos!
Poor Nico
Maybe Sara can tell us what happened
Or the hotel didn't have a taperecorder after all

Good luck in doubles

i don´t know about nico´s performance but i remember that tsonga beat hewitt in queen´s this year and we know that hewitt is a great player on grass so i don´t think we need to worry a lot.

You're absolutely right,it's just that I posted right after the match's over. Was so pissed seeing [on the score board]all those breaks, and Nico losing the most important points ..it all went so fast, the whole match lasted less than 2H.
Most important is that Nicolas himself said he's pretty happy with his performances on Wimby this year, as it's the 1st tournament in a while he plays without pain.
That's from his site of course, bt this quote lightened up my mood after today's defeat-thought I'd share it even if it's nt the right thread for this!

Btw:I ve never underestimated Jo Muhhamed Ali Tsonga, as a proof, my post in GM after Nico's 1st match:

Who knows, he might even go further. Next to face is Jo-Willy Tsonga.I wouldn't underestimate this guy, as he's lately in good form and seems to feel really comfortable on grass [=>defeated Hewitt in Queens 2 weeks ago]..Nonetheless, hope Lapentti wins. Would love to see him against Henman[or Lopez..?nah]in 3rd r.
[sthg bout great minds that..?tsk tsk..on the other hand,I obviously underestimated someone:Lalo Lopez...everybody can make a mistake,no ]

Unfortunately no. I started my search, but no information available I'm affraid. Maybe there will be sthg on Nico's site, or on tenisecuador.com later on. For the moment all I found was:

29/06/2007 | 10:54
Dobles de Wimbledon
Dupla Lapentti – Calleri no terminaron encuentro
Londres (CRE).-

after: http://www.cre.com.ec/Desktop.aspx?Id=173&e=97983

As you can see, not much of an insight that was
Let's hope it wasn't caused by anything serious, no time for injuries atm!
If anyone knows what happened, plz post it here, thanks.

I'm not surprised about the way Nico lost, he's not won many matches this year, hopefully his second half to the year will be a big improvement

I went to Wimbledon yesterday and was really excited about seeing Nico's doubles match as I've liked him for ages but never seen him play live.

Well it was really good to see him but I wouldn't have chosen it to be in those circumstances as he had to retire with an injury. It looked like an injury to his right wrist, but it was hard to tell how serious it was. He didn't have it strapped up at the start of the match so I assume he must have sustained it some time in the first set yesterday. One of the opponents had a very big serve so maybe he jarred it on one of his returns. He called the trainer in the second set and had the wrist strapped, then tried to play on for a while but he wasn't able to. He and Calleri were a double break down in the second set when they stopped so they would probably have had to go five sets to win it. Probably not a good idea to take a risk on playing on with a busy schedule coming up.

Really hope it was just a precaution and nothing too serious as I have just read that he has only recently been able to play without pain from other injuries.

Abi

Oh my god!It can't be!Poor Nico...I truly want to believe it ain't serious! Not after all those health problems bothering him lately. Thank you Abi for sharing this with us, though the news itself is pretty crappy..

It's a good thing they stopped playing right away then. Let's hope the injury isn't too bad.

So sad that Nico is injured

I really hope it's not too serious and he can go back to kicking ass on clay

Get well soon, Nico!

Our guy really isn't lucky when it comes to injuries
I wish I could take that hurtfull wrist from him, I have enough time to recover from it, I don't have to write anymore, because I'm in holiday

It can't just be coincidence that we always see each other in the same threads.

You have great taste

It's starting to be very sweet over here lately
Now back to the topic, tenisecuador wrote Nico is going to play in Gstaad both in singles and doubles.
Seems our prayers worked and the wrist problem is over [knock on wood].Btw: Guess who's going to be his doubles partner...Lalito Lopez!
At first I found this choice a lil odd, but then I checked that Feliciano got to the final last year..so there's a chance he won't choke in early rounds, trying to stay there as long as possible..

Good to see he's playing, so the wrist will probably be ok!

Good luck! (Pity he plays Chuco 1st round... will be a difficult one to cheer for me. Like them both)
