my china open photos gallery!
don't know if anyone is still reading this forum, but this should be the most appropriate place to tell people that i've been uploading my pics to the gallery here:
http://viatennis.smakdesign.com.au/v...Beijing%202006
already in the gallery:
ancic, lopez, srichaphan, schuettler, gregorc, wang
chadvetadze, vesnina, bartoli, medina-garrigues
there should be a few more players to come but not that many...

Hey Via!
Home sweet Home, yep, it is my turn. i promise you i ll take more pictures. and we are going to do the hotel-waiting again, like last year, it is easier for you to take pictures with players in the hotel.

Re: my china open photos gallery!
yup i've come to realise that it's almost hopeless to try to get any interaction with players at courtside in bj. it's amazing... sometimes players were even escorted by security guards... it's much more relaxed in sydney
we still hadn't worked out where the players hotel was in bj even in the end i am really dumb about those hotel places, not to mention that i'm rather too shy to approach any one at hotels, for fear of... well, i leave you to work that out (look at my signature quote)
but guess what, i hit jackpot at a shopping centre! tehehe

Re: my china open photos gallery!
Yep, you should know Haha that's in China. 3 years ago, I was in Heineken, Novak was out, and we came to him wanted to ask for an autograph, he was very friendly, but the bodyguard was very rude to us.
And the same satiuation last year, we met Mike in Hilton Hotel, i came to him and asked could i take a pic with him? he smiled and said yes, of course, but in that time a bodyguard came to us and pushed me, i shouted what were you doing? the man said you couldn't stay here and talked with him. Mike coulnd't understand what we were talking about, he just said to me, i would be out, waiting for me.
That's China Via

i know now, but i really don't see why it is necessary. chinese fans are very well behaved and players can see that. the only thing for me is that sometimes fans may get too excited and when a swarm gathers around a player it can look a bit scary
when that sort of situation happens in aust (when federer steps out to court? lol as i couldn't really see a crowd the last time i watched hewitt practise in sydney lol lol) there will be some volunteer type trying to keep some order, but normally no extra security.
of course we can only hope that things will stay safe and secure at tennis... public places can be very risky these days

Re: my china open photos gallery!
Tennis in china is a developing sports item, and you know there less tournaments in china, we only have China Open and now is Tennis masters cup, the past is Heineken Open, so when the fans meet their idols, they might become excited, and the most of the fans are student, they just can't help themselves, but they are not terrorists
well, what about next year? come to shanghai for the TMC?

it's the same everywhere, for most cities there's only one pro tournament a year. and that's lucky cos many other cities don't. and young fans are the same everywhere! i haven't seen any who looks like a terrorist but then what should a terrorist look like ...

TMC is an attractive event as every player is a star and shanghai is a great place to visit
i dunno... my camera doesn't like indoors but maybe i can send someone there
but i'll definitely stay tuned to your report this year!

If there's no bodyguard I guess some popular players can never get out from keeping to sign.
The situation is far more better than last 2 years, the screne that JC can't move even 1 inch on court without bodyguard has been keeping in my mind...and How I miss him...
They lived in Shangri-La hotel in BJ.
Do you take some pics of Vaidisova? She's my one of two favorite players of WTA,the other one is Sharapova.

I took pics with Ancic,Baghdatis,Ljubicic,Srichaphan,Vaidisova,Kuzn etsova...almost every favorite players on court, including Mauresmo,I heared that she was escorted by 8 guards in WTA final day. She's so popular in BJ that's beyond my imagination.Waiting for player in hotel is too bored

hey luna i'm sorry somehow i had missed you totally in bj !!! i didn't go that much after all, only the first saturday, then tues (atp) (we were stuck in traffic at 7pm on monday! so we gave up going lol) and wed (wta) that's all.
i think you're exactly right about why bodyguards are needed in bj... not because anyone looks like a terrorist...
i'm sad for you that jc hadn't played in bj. i guess i could sit back and relax, and watch people running after other players, because my fav wasn't there either!!! lol
yes i knew it was shangri-la, it's pretty obvious as they were a sponsor! but i was told that there were a few shangri-la's in bj. yeah it's true it's boring waiting around hotels so the only player i had waited for was my fav, and only at the hotel door one year
so... where are your pics???
