Short interview in Clarin. I will try to translate it later, I can´t now.
I posted the pic in the photos thread

http://www.clarin.com/diario/2006/12...es/d-06601.htm

Ponerme bien físicamente, aguantar cinco sets y jugar torneos ATP.

i can help if you have no time! Brief translation

"SINCE US OPEN I REALIZED I WAS JUST THERE AND THAT I COULD PLAY TO ANYONE", SAID THE KID FROM TANDIL

Del Potro, a teen ager that grows between the stars

If there is a thing JMDP didn't change when he appeared in the big circuit, this is his teen ager's face.

At his 18 year old, the kid that proudly walks his 1,95 for all over the world, he is finishing a great year. Champion in Segovia y Aguascalientes challengers, winner over Moya, Ginepri and Chela and 92 in the world (he arrived there from the 158), the kid from Tandil started the big career how it was expected. Just a few hours before playing the Copa Vila, he talked to Clarin.

Interview

R. Earlier this year the people went to see you as a promise and now you are already in the big news

JMDP. This year i had very good results. In Buenos Aires (the tournament) they were going to watch me as a promise and now i am one more between the argentinian's tennis players.[/b]

R: ¿What was the more important thing that happened to you in 2006?

JMDP: I had a good first part of the year. I made a few good matches: i beat Moya, Ginepri and i felt very well on fast surfaces. I feel there better than on clay. And then i felt myself in equal conditions with the best players. Since USOPEN i realized that i was jsut there, that i could play to anybody and that gave me a lot of confidence

R ¿What do you need to improve?

JMDP. I need to improve everything. I improved a lot my serve and that was very good, because on this level a good serve makes things easier. To beat the best i need to serve even 10 times better. And i have to be physically stronger to handle with long matches during a Grand Slam.

R. ¿In which stage did you feel fear?

JMDP During the last part of the year i was with a lot of fear because i had to defend a lot of points and my goal was to finish between the top 100. I knew it was very complicated to achieve and i was all the time thinking on the ranking. Till i had to face Murray. I was sad thinking that wouldn't arrive but he couldn't play and God gave me a chance and i took it. I got relaxed and could enjoy what i was doing.

R ¿Is also good that Mancini counted on you (for Davis Cup)?

JMDP. I knew in Slovakia and after then i talked to Luli. To me the best thing was Cañas going because he could give a lot to the team. Me, I just could achieve experience there. To my career, it wasn't good too because i had a hard year, and i need rest to prepare 2007 to be 100% fit.

R. ¿Your goals for 2007?

JMDP To be physically strong, to be able to handle 5 sets and to play ATP. And then after i get a stable position there, i will try to correct my errors to arrive to the highest level i could.

Then 2 pearls. Because he said about Federer: "I trained with him and he helped me to get a Basilea's invitation.". The other pearl: He will be "Bachiller" (high school title) next week.

Hope this help, sorry for my English.

I always do that too! Word for word translations quite often do not work because expressions in one language to not sound or mean the same in another. Thanks for doing it - I am at work so didn't have a chance to do it.
