Re: Ranking Watch
Or 72nd, if you give him the 10 points from elimination round that were then taken away.

Re: Ranking Watch
Thanks for the Stats! Pretty impressive! And don't worry - I never jump to conclusions! I'm told JM will lose 30 points over the next 2 weeks as he is not playing any tournamernts, but should only drop down to 75 -no lower!

If I am not wrong, he will lose 20 points.
15 of the 2nd round in Vińa and 5 of the 1st round in Buenos Aires.
The 10 points from Costa Do Sauipe, he will defend them in Memphis.

Re: Ranking Watch
2006 Season / 2007 Season
Vińa del Mar (15 points) - Week 5 - DID NOT PLAY
DID NOT PLAY - Week 6 - Davis Cup
Buenos Aires (5 points) - Week 7 - WILL NOT PLAY
Costa Do Sauipe (10 points) - Week 8 - Memphis ATP
Acapulco (5 points) - Week 9 - Las Vegas ATP
DID NOT PLAY - Week 10 - Indian Wells Masters Series
DID NOT PLAY - Week 11 - Indian Wells Masters Series
DID NOT PLAY - Week 12 - Miami Masters Series
Mexico City (1 point) - Week 13 - Miami Masters Series
Aguascalientes (50 points) - Week 14 - Davis Cup
If he keeps his level of play he could skyrocket in the rankings.

And after this, in the clay season (this is Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Estoril/Munich, Rome, Hamburg, Roland Garros.) he has only 36 points to defend (the equivalent of a quarterfinal in Munich).
And later, in the grass season (Halle/Queens, 's-Hertogenbosch/Nottingham and Wimbledon), he defends only 19 points.
In my opinion, Del Potro will end the year as a Top 30.

Thanks for all your hard work with the Stats here Willy. I am useless at stuff like that! I do hope JM does try to play Wimbledon and Queens this year - I am not a fan of grass, but they are the only tournaments I can get up and walk too

You are so lucky being close to all those tournaments!!!
I am not a big fan of grass either, but every player who has aspirations to reach the top should play all the big tournaments.
I always preferred clay, but I never completely understood the players who skip the grass season... and I'm pretty sure that with some time Del Potro could become a good grass court player.
