Default English Weekend Matches, innit! (16-19th)

One early lean .. Pile on Manchester United! Given the Red Devils current form, $1.80 is a great price at home against Arsenal, who're yet to hit their straps and returning from last night's Champions League clash in Germany ..

Hey guys...I don't want to start up a competitive atmosphere or anything...but would you mind posting your W/L records? I know a little bit about footy but not confident betting it yet so it would be nice to tail people who know what they're doing.

I'm looking mainly for English matches over £2.00.

Whilst I agree with ManU over Arsenal, the Gunners will surely find their form soon and £1.80 is a little too short for my liking

I like the look of Portsmouth Bashlike...they have had a great start to the season and priced £2.50!

I watch Match of the Day so I know a little bit about footy at any rate. Do you use any particular website for stats?

Thanks

If I was honest guys id suggest staying away from Portsmouth, i agree that on paper and on current form they should win. Charlton didnt start season well but in recent games they look to be on up after an encouraging 2-1 defeat away at Chelsea and a 2-0 win over Bolton. In Darren Bent and JFH they certainly have the firepower to break through Portsmouths unbeaten defence. I think a draw, if not Charlton win is every possibility especially at the Valley.

My value bets for weekend are:

1. Reading to beat Sheffield United@2.80

2. Blackburn to beat Man City@2.00

3. Aberdeen to beat Falkirk@2.50

I'm an avid football fan and can proudfully say I won everyone of my bets yesterday in the UEFA cup, sure many were short odds, but they added up nicely in combos. I'm also an Arsenal fan and not touching the game at Old Trafford, I fear Utd will win and of course would never dare back them. Hopefully we come out of the game with something.

I would say there are no obvious wins this weekend, I agree not to touch Portsmouth, I can't see them not conceding again, only team in Prem not to do so.

Bolton at home 2.00 is decent, but could well be a draw and I think Tottenham will win at 1.61. Fancy Chelsea vs Liverpool draw.

In saying all this, I will avoid all scores and probably bet on goals scored and corners, haha.. major + on corner betting.

Fed .. The only reservation I had with Blackburn was the fact they're returning from a mid-week match in Austria .. City though seem pretty vulnerable away from home ..

Jez don't have my soccer record handy atm, but if I did, you'd catch the first flight to Australia and smack me with sledge hammer for getting involved in any other sport .. ! Seriously though I do find it a lot more consistent results wise ..

Teams place such a massive emphasis on winning at home. I never both with away teams, just look for home side with a strong case against an opponent who's a bit wobbly on the road and hit it ..

Flamboyant i agree with all your picks, i have small wagers on them all except Coventry who should in fairness win and could end Blackwell's reign at Leeds but he is fighting for his job so you never know.

Blackburn should win really, they did play in Uefa cup but they aint playing till Sunday so an extra days rest. They are still a decent team, even with out Bellamy and their league position is not a true reflection of their ability. Every team picks up points, even those relegated and with Blackburn only on 2points, this game is a must-win!

Games looking good overall are:

1. Reading to beat Sheffield United@2.80 (Bet365)

2. Blackburn to beat Man City@2.00 (Bet365)

3. Aberdeen to beat Falkirk@2.50 (Betfair)

4. Sunderland to beat Leicester@1.65 (Blue Square)

5. Everton to beat Wigan@1.72 (Bet365)

6. West Brom to beat Southend@1.53 (Bet365)

7. Birmingham to beat Ipswich@1.61 (Bet365)

8. Southampton to beat Plymouth@1.72 (Bet365)

9. Swindon to beat Peterborough@1.53 (Bet365)

Sorry I havent posted recently, missed out on the midweek games Im actually not in the UK at the moment, but anyway, still gotta make those picks!

W30/L45/V4 +45.77units

Nothing for me in the Premiership screams out value so Im leaving it.

Birmingham vs Ipswich

Birmingham are top of the league and playing quite well at the moment. Ipswich have picked themselves off the bottom of the league and won 3 matches in a row. Birmingham see themselves as a Premiership side and to be fair to them, are showing that they might well be that after this season. However, I have had mixed views about Ipswich and after much deliberation I feel they will have an up and down season, going on good runs, then bad runs which will see them have a rollercoaster yet fruitless season and ending up about 9th. Birmingham have won their last 2league matches and won all 4 of their league matches at home this season. Ipswich won their last away match which was after they went 1-0 down on TV and it looked like they wouldnt win for a long time, they won that match 3-0. Youngster Billy Clarke has scored in the last 2matches and he looks to be helping to kick start thier season. Birmingham will have Kelly, Sadler and Bendtner out which may be a big miss for them although they have others to cover for him.

Ipswich to win @ 6.13 - 1unit

Derby vs Preston

I thought Preston would struggle this season having lost their manager and some of their key defenders, however, theyve managed to get in a decent young manager and keep David Nugent and I have thus far been proved wrong. Today they are up against the team that the Preston manager left to join. Adding to that, 2 seasons ago Preston beat Derby in the Playoff semi finals. A fiery battle ensues. Derby have lost some key players on the last day of the transfer window including Tommy Smith and Inigo Idiakez. They are both coming off very good wins, Derby at Wolves and Preston beating West Brom. However, Derbys home form is poor not winning at home yet this season, and Prestons away form is average only winning 1 in their last 4 matches away from home this season. This was a great away win on TV against Wolves. However, despite these relatively poor forms Preston sit up the top of the table in 4th while Derby are currently in 16th seemingly wishing every game was an away game considering their home form.

Preston to win @ 2.95 - 2units

Stockport vs Wrexham

Wrexham were fantastic last weekend (not for me though!) beating Swindon after Swindon hadnt dropped a point all season. They were woeful in midweek losing 5-0 and now I feel they will gain 3points again. How can I touch such an inconsistent side? Because Stockport are very consistent. Consistently bad. Them and Macclesfield are once again the likely favourites to go down and this is a fade of Stockport with quite a decent Wrexham side.

Wrexham to win @ 2.62 - 2units

GL

Watford preview

Watford vs Aston Villa

So far these two teams have had very different starts. Watford have battled hard and gained nothing for numerous chances. 1point from 4games. Villa have battled hard but taken their chances more often and have obviously really taken to new manager O'Neill. They are sitting pretty up the top. This will be a tight game. Watford will be well up for it. Last weekend we hit the woodwork 3times and let in a 95th minute penalty to lose 1-0. Unjust, yes, but its reality. The key battle today will be in midfield. Petrov looked class against West Ham, however, Damien Francis and Gavin Mahon have looked extremely good so far this season with Francis getting on the scoresheet twice and hitting the post last weekend. I have a feeling he'll end up with goals in double figures. The defence has looked solid with big Danny Shittu and either Malky Mackay or Jay Demerit and they have not given Louis Saha, Andy Johnson, Nicolas Anelka, El Hadj Diouf et al an easy ride with only Johnson and Zamora the strikers scoring against us this season. With Baros back Villa will be more potent up front, however, I feel with the home support this could be 3points for Watford - I never give up hope.

Recommended bet - Damien Francis anytime scorer @ 6.8

You can watch the game on PremPlus @ 5.45 if you want to see what these two teams are all about!
