Methinks you do not understand science. The whole purpose of science is to prove things. Sure, there is theory, but the proof of the theory is what we call science.

God means good in Sweden and Heaven is a gay nightclub in London.

Yes, those 2 things exist, but as for the religious stuff the answer is no.

Talking about stupidity, ugly american must be really happy with you posting my pm on his thread. You just proved him wrong.
Give my regards to your pedophile family in Chile. Have you told them that they are pedophiles for being Christians? Oh and I am sure that your Dad should be able to tell you how to spell pedophile.
One more thing I am agnostic.

I want to think there's an afterlife, because the thought of just not existing anymore after I die is kind of depressing....I guess I believe in both in a vague sort of way.

Rule number one: Doesn't matter what he does, ignore Jim Jones. He always does that.

And no religion is better than the other, they're just different ways of thinking. It's as if I said you liking the colour red best is wrong just because my favourite one is pink.

You sound like a nice person, don't play along with his little bashing game, it's just that some people have a weird way of having fun.

Yes I know no religion is better than another one Einstein. I was just stooping down to his level. He does not realize that I was talking exactly like him.
Your words of wisdom apply to me and to our nice friend who was traumatized by my bad rep. Rest assure to you both. This is my last post in this thread.

Well, it was nice while it lasted.... Its no wonder there is so much fighting in the world over religion, we can't even keep it civil here on a tennis message board.... I would think we could all respect each others beliefs even if we don't agree with them.

I don't know about respect, it's kind of hard to respect someone when you think they make no sense. But yeah, it still isn't necessary to shout that opinion to the whole world or whatever

I believe in God but I also believe in science. I think God created the universe (big bang, etc.) but he gave humans free will to do with it as they wanted. He tries to help us but some people don't get the message.

The Episcopal summer camp I used to go to had a really good thoughts about religion, imo. They thought that the best way to serve god was to be a good person to everyone, no matter who or what they believed in. There was still the urge to "save" people but they didn't think that everyone with different beliefs was going to hell. Also, the people there were very opened minded and rather liberal. One of our councelors was openly gay and no one had a problem with it. I tend to dislike organized religion because of the intolerance it breeds but they showed me how religion can help people become better.

At a Baptist church I went to, the minister said "I don't care who you are or what you believe, I love you."

What created God? Why does the universe need a creator yet thet creator dosent need a creator? Yes, sometmes Religion can have positive effects on people, the message that most religions teach, love others, be respectful are good advices. However, I believe that Religion originated as a form of creating some sort of disicpline in early socieities. I often ask religous people, if it werent for God would you do evil things? That usually makes them think a bit.

About this "love" thing. I believe that it is used to frequently in church. Love is a strong word...

[quote=Lafuria] However, I believe that Religion originated as a form of creating some sort of disicpline in early socieities. I often ask religous people, if it werent for God would you do evil things? That usually makes them think a bit.QUOTE]

To add to that, I think that some religions originated so people can say because stuff like "I am a god; that's why I'm in power. Or god gave me the right to rule. etc."
To the second part, personally, if it weren't for God, I would probably cuss a lot, drink a lot, etc., but I don't because I'm not supposed to. But I'm starting to cuss more and drink because I'm getting more away from my religion due to a senior member of my church stealing $4000 dollars from me, while a pastor vehemently defends him. I'm ostracized from my church by a pretty hefty degree, but hopefully my faith will not slip further than it already has.

As for "love," I heard that it is something strong, that Christians are mostly striving to reach it, but rarely do someone actually achieve it -- meaning truly love someone.
