Re: Will Agassi play in the 2005 Australian Open?
Just a feeling I have, but his loss last night and the bows he took felt like a farewell of sorts. And although he lost the match, it seemed there was something very respectable about the way he went down fighting after a comeback within the match.
but maybe I'm being overly dramatic in my interpretation of events...
He has nothing left to prove, but I'm sure he would love to surpass Connors and Lendl with 9 slams so his name is truly up there near the top. so who knows if we will see him down under next year.
He gave sort of conflicting sentiments in his interview:
Q. What are our chances of seeing you here again next year?
ANDRE AGASSI: Well, right now, pretty good. I mean, I have no plans to do otherwise. But, you know, a year's a long time. I really look forward to being back.
Q. What was going through your mind as you acknowledged the crowd before you walked off?
ANDRE AGASSI: Oh, you know, just saying thank you to them. They've been great to me over the years. Just a lot of fun to compete in front of. And you never know when it's your last, right? So you want to say bye properly.
