Davis Cup draw to be held in Rome

The ITF announces that the draw for the 2007 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas will be held in Rome on Thursday 28 September at 12:00 noon local time. The venue for the draw will be confirmed shortly. Seedings will be based on the ITF Davis Cup Nations Ranking of 25 September following the World Group semifinals and Play-off ties on 22-24 September.

You will be able to follow the draw live on www.daviscup.com, both via a text article updated in real time, and LIVE on Davis Cup Radio.

Seedings will be based on the ITF Davis Cup Nations Ranking following the World Group semifinals and Play-off ties on 22-24 September. The new Ranking cannot be run, and therefore seedings determined, until the Brazil v Sweden Play-off tie is concluded on Monday. The Ranking will be published on Daviscup.com either on Monday night or Tuesday morning UK time.

Russia and Argentina will top the seedings for the World Group. According to the Davis Cup Regulations, the two finalist nations are seeded No. 1 and No. 2 in the World Group for the following year (the higher-ranked being No. 1), and will be drawn in opposite halves of the draw. Seeds 3-8 are in accordance with the latest Davis Cup Nations Ranking.

Croatia retains its No. 1 position on the new ITF Davis Cup Nations Ranking, ahead of 2006 finalists Russia and Argentina.

Seedings for the Zonal Group I and Group II competitions will also be based on the latest Davis Cup Nations Ranking.
