Re: Deb, Nat, and Brian's Thread of Grammar Shame.
Brian, you just brought the Simon and Garfunkel "I am a Rock" song to mind.
I am a rock bot,
I am an island cyborg.
And a rock feels no pain bot knows all things;
And an island never cries cyborg's always right.
Incidentally, you can tell by my use of assonance that I have a different vowel in "thing" than most people.

Re: Deb, Nat, and Brian's Thread of Grammar Shame.
You just reminded me of the song Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles:
Atheneglaukopis picks up the book in the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?

I was asking if you meant to type, "A group of us taxpayers," because as the sentence stands it has no pronoun, and I was racking my brain trying to figure out what was intended. That's what I came up with, because it seems the construction most likely to be questioned. If my guess is wrong, please let me know.

Reason: I decided that "type" works like "say" and adjusted my comma placement accordingly.

Nothing, it's just that I didn't quite know how to answer your post, without looking dumb.
Mind you, I made looking dumb an artform, so I'm proud.
