Jan withdrew from Biella, will he be alright for Casablanca? He only needs a few points more to basically clinch a position in RG, so hopefully this week off helps with any niggles.

the Ostrava challenger is next week and the Prague challenger is the week after that so he will probably play them. He usually plays better in his home country so he may pick up some points here.
I will be going to the Prague challenger, lets hope he does not draw Fernando Gonzalez in the 1st round! |

Oh, he's applying for a WC into Ostrava? Good decision, he should be able to win matches in that event. He definitely plays good in his home country events so I expect and he needs good performances.

I can't think of a good reason why he should not enter it. He must be playing in either Estoril, Serbia or Munich instead. |

Yes, he's in Munich. He's defending QF points so he's gonna be a little farther from top 100 if he loses R1 again. Needs to try to win at least one match.

AJ, or anyone else, do you know what physical issues Jan has been dealing with this year? Unfortunately it's affected his results. Hopefully he can start putting together better performances.

Had an achilles problem towards the end of last year, then there are the other issues he has with the health.

he may have lost his davis cup matches but i thought he played well, unfortunately for him so did his opponents, and they were tough defeats to take mentally as the matches were close.

From one of the other Czech guys said Hajek withdrew against Minar cause of a back problem which he had treatment in the DC matches.

He's had back problems a lot. Too bad he's so fragile physically, he's never really gotten an opportunity to play a full ATP season without having a physical issue. His focus needs to be on Prostejov and he's not playing next week so that should help the back a bit.

Jan plays Tsonga in R1 of the French. A win would be nice but that is unlikely. Hopefully this little break he has taken has helped him recover from his assortment of injuries and he can start playing decent tennis this season.
