Sad news Seems Agustin is getting back problems again (the same as he had last year) - and can't even guarantee he will be fit for Roland Garros.

It's shitty that Agustin misses RG again, it seems it's not meant to be for him.

Hey all.

Interesting interview with Agustin in yesterday's edition of Diario Olé, where he mainly talks about his relationship with Davis Cup and differentiates himself from the players who only show up for the ties when there are guarantees offered (reach your own conclusions about who are those guys ).

Hi there. Agustin is set to play in Liverpool next week and I have tickets for Thursday and Friday's play, so I should be able to see him play. If I'm lucky I might get an autograph or get to chat with him hopefully

I seen him play this morning (first match on). He played well from the baseline and won against Scott Dickson (Q) 7-5 6-2.

Managed to get back for the Queen's action too which was nice

Calleri Outlasts Srichaphan

Written by Sally Easton

Tuesday, 27 June, 2006

In a muscular, marathon match lasting more than three hours, Argentine Agustin Calleri pushed aside 29th seed Paradorn Srichaphan of Thailand, 6-7 (3-7), 7-5, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

The 29-year-old Calleri is back at Wimbledon after a two year absence, and, until today, he lacked current experience on grass, having played just one match on the surface in three years. But in a gutsy tie, this was no deterrent against Asia’s top tennis player.

The match was delicately poised at 5-4, 0-15 after yesterday’s rain-affected play, but Calleri promptly finished his service game to square the match at 5-5. A tiebreak ensued, which 27-year-old Srichaphan dominated, gaining three set points with a driving forehand that drew tramline chalk. He needed just one of them.

After an evenly-fought, 42-minute, second set, it was the third set that was the turning point for Calleri. Mid-way through the set his desperation to break through Srichaphan’s defences showed, but his grit didn’t waver.

At 4-3 up, Calleri’s cross-court drive service return forced an error from Srichaphan for break point. A fierce exchange forced Srichaphan wide to the forehand court. Calleri didn’t waste the single break opportunity he had created for 5-3. After a nervous start to 0-30, he served out the set with four straight points, finishing it off neatly with a delicious ace.

After the ebb and flow of the fourth set, which Srichaphan won with the help of a favourable net cord ball that broke the Calleri serve, an epic fifth set was unfurled. Calleri finally broke serve in the sixth game for a 4-2 lead. Now on the ascendant, not even winding himself diving for a volley could stop his march.

El Gordo is through to the 2nd round of Bĺstad, where he will met Nicolas "Mucho" Almagro. It should be a hard hitting match for sure.

Calleri struggled with Luczak initially losing the 1st set 6-3, then he lifted his game and was able to take the last 2 sets 6-1 6-2.

Gordo had a good win against Almagro and followed that up with an excellent performance against the Toad Söderling winning 6-4 6-4.

Got the early break and was able to win 4 games in a row and at times when he has blown it serving for matches, he has held it together.

Tough match against Davydenko coming up.

Calleri handled the windy conditions a lot better than the Toad and was able to break back from 0-2 and then won the match with a big forehand.

Agustin lost to davydenko in the semis
I didn't watch the match but looking at the scoreline it seems Calleri never posed much of a threat to davydenko (i could be wrong, if someone saw the match i would appreciate a little bit of info).

But on the other hand i'm proud of him. He went farther than i expected with good wins against Almagro and Soderling.
So, anyway, i'm happy
