Re: Agustin
Calleri beat Monaco very easily 6-2 6-1 and I am not sure if it was he played very well or Pico played poorly and now he has to play Monfils in the next round.

Re: Agustin
Calleri has been selected in the team for Davis Cup.
http://www.sportinglife.com/tennis/n...Davis_Cup.html
SAME AGAIN FOR MANCINI
Argentina look set to name an unchanged squad for their Davis Cup quarter-final against Croatia after Gaston Gaudio withdrew from contention.
Gaudio is not thought to be in peak condition and does not relish the challenge posed by the fast surfaces in Zagreb, where the Argentina side will play between April 7-9.
That means coach Alberto Mancini will stick with the same party that hammered Sweden 5-0 in Buenos Aires, with David Nalbandian, Juan Ignacio Chela, Agustin Calleri and Jose Acasuso all set to be retained.
Mancini, in an interview with www.ole.com.ar, was in confident mood, citing last year's quarter-final appearance in Australia as a source of inspiration.
"We have a chance to beat Croatia. After what we did in Australia, nothing is impossible.
"It'll be a crucial match, but I think the key will be in the doubles match and the duels against Mario Ancic.
"I always dream of winning the Davis Cup."

Re: Agustin
I have a feeling Agustin will play very well in his doubles match and I don't want to be wrong. Maybe he will also play one of the singles matches, it depends also on his deal in Miami. Matches like Calleri - Monfils are where both should be through .

Re: Agustin
Calleri beat Monfils and now plays Moya in the 3rd round a player that he has had a lot of problems with.
http://batanga.sportsya.com/noticia....7&id_estruc=10
The summary is that he thinks that Moya will be a very difficult match.
At the start of the match he felt heavy legged and was erratic. The wind was a factor and once he adjusted to that, then he was able to swing freely and finished well.
After breaking in the ninth game of the 1st set. He struck hard and was keen to put the pressure on his rival. He wants to be aggressive and impose himself on his opponent. When he feels confident he wants his opponent to know when he sits down, that there is a player always that will always attack him. Fortunately I played very well and it gave me the confidence to execute the plan.
He expected that he would be playing Nadal and not Moya. It will be just as hard and it's not news and I have to play my game and hit the ball well as I know that is what bothers him from me.

Sorry I haven't been able to post earlier but I have been in Hospital as some of you know. Anyway - answer to your question GWH - I understand Agustin played extremely well against Mónaco - his serve was great and he made some excellent winners. From what I hear from someone who was at the match - Juan played better than the scoreline suggests in the 1st set (had many break point opportunities on Agustin's serve but just could not convert) - but in the 2nd set he got down on hmself and gave up - which is a typical Mónaco fault Afterwards he said he he "didn't have a clue" how to play Agustin. I am pleased that Agustin beat Monfils and good luck to him in his next match.

Re: Agustin
Thanks for the match report Rosie and I read it at that other source of great tennis news hehehehe.
El Gordo has finally beat Moya after 4 consecutive losses and hopefuly he can take out that sneaky Kiwi Kiefer.

Re: Agustin
Bad first set from Gordo, but he turned it around in the last 2 sets and was showing what he is capable of and this has been an excellent tournament whatever happens against Ljubo and this will help his case to get a singles spot against the Croats, especially with a good performance against Ljubo.

Agustin has just got to get the singles spot - he is far better than Chucho and Chubby Chela at this moment in time I think.
