Default Fed and tiebreaks.

Normally Federer has been a beast win it comes to tiebreaks, sporting an astounding TB record.

However recently, it seems that he has been losing a lot more tie breaks than usual. Do you think that he's not as confident as he once was?

I actually thought this too when I saw he'd lost the second set tiebreak to Berdych. I agree, probably just a phase or something.

Except the newcomers, no player has career tiebreak winning rate > 70% or < 30%.

Rafa is in his head. At night, he keeps hearing yelps of Vamos ringing in his ears and hallucinating that a pair of clamdiggers are lying near his bed.

it may have more to do with his opponents feeling more confident against him... afterall, to get to a tie-break against the world #1 (of more than two years) could be a bit of a confidence booster (however temporary it may be)...

His TB record was 17-5 something before the FO final and two of the losses were from the Rome final against Nadal(someone corrects me, if I'm wrong). After then, 4-4(4 wins in Halle, 1 loss in Paris+3 losses in Halle).

I think this is rather about his lack of concentration during the matches resulted from mental exhaustion after Paris than any other reasons. TB demands much more concentration and focus of players but it seemed that he just didn't have much enough in his tank for the whole week.

soonha, I agree, it takes more concentration in tie-breaks... hopefully, he won't be mentally exhausted during Wimbledon...

Since the second set of the Rome final its been
5 wins (Hartfied, Botanna, Gasquet, 2 Rochus)- 8 loses (3 Naldal, Massu, Gasquet, Rochus, Haas, Berdich).

Yeah i agree he has been struggling on tiebreaks lately, as well as trying to close out matches.

If only sensible players can prove they're one-dimensional and that have coaches who cheat poor Federer... After all, wins and GOAT status make a tennis player more special.

Tiebreak is like bingo. Either you win or not And Federer is normally a good bingo player
