Default Richy's gonna play DC!

Seb refused to participate, because he's overtired (both physically&mentally) after Wimbledon. So Richy'll get his place in the french team.
here's what I found in one russian sports site (the source in reliable):
"...so it became clear that French team will perform at Davis Cup consisting of Richard Gasquet (they put him first!), Paul-Henri Mathieu, Arnaud Clement, Michael Llodra."

Marat has withdrawn due to injury.

There are rumours that Richard's shoulder is still hurting, after he pulled out of the Mallorca exhibition, but nothing's confirmed.

we can never be sure about Marat since he can change his mind every second, but to date he's not playing it's gonna be tough without him, since Davydenko is also uncertain (he's got an injury...). Andreev&Yuzhny will play for sure. Shamil Tarpishev (the Russian team captain) will announce the squad supposingly on monday.

press release about DC... too tired to translate it

I heard about Richard's shoulder hurting and that's why he withdrew from Mallorca. However, I also think it could be fatigure and/or pain from the other wisdom tooth being removed. I think its quite smart that he decided not to play Mallorca.

Good Luck Richard in Davis Cup

Default Re: Richy's gonna play DC!

Now it's official (from L'Equipe):

Looking at the players' selections, it seems it will be very very hard for France to win this tie... especially without Grosjean...
They're lead by an unexperienced 19 year old teenager (no DC experience, no five sets match won and only one played, the pressure of being the team number one player on his shoulders for his first selection etc...), without their second best player, an out of form (but always hypermotivated, nobody can take that away from him... ) Clément who recently lost in the first round of a Challenger is selected, it's in Russia, PHM will always be PHM and we all know what it implies (even if he's always at his best in the DC)...etc...etc...
But they dealt successfully with other tougher situations before so who knows? But it will sure be very hard for them and they're definitely the underdogs now more than ever...

I've just post this article in PHM MB. Terrible news
But we should be positive...
- Richard beat Davydenko on clay in MonteCarlo (ok it was in 2 sets but...)
- Paulo is a great DC player (remember the match in Spain last year where he beat Moya in an incredible match)
- we should also trust Llodra-Clément for the double

Davydenko is playing in Gstaad on clay this week. Davydenko is 1st seed. Let see what he is going to do there.

yes, but the unexperienced 19 year old teenager won against Federer, when he was still 18
it's gonna be hard, but they have a lot of chances

Congratulations for being on the DC team Richard!

Default Re: Richy's gonna play DC!

And who will be France's fifth player? Does sombody know?

And Richard's "injury" doesn't seem too serious. He just withdrew from the Mallorca and the Maison Laffite exhibitions tournaments in which he was supposed to participate to rest i think as Deblicker said he would (actually it seemed unlikely that he'd do exhibition tournaments when his coach litteraly said that he was going to "lay down" his racquet for a few days to rest...So it was not even planed that he'd play tennis...). In today's L'Equipe, they say that he was in Nevers Magny-Cours for the Formula One French Grand Prix and that he and Tony Parker who was there too made a few laps on board of a F1 biplace drived by the French Indycar racer Sébastien Bourdais... I guess he saw the race too... So he's just resting, breathing a little, having fun before getting back to training tomorrow (remember that Deblicker said they were getting back to training on Tuesday...).
I think he's OK. But the next weeks will be stressful times for him. I hope that they'll be full of (good) emotions too, lot of experiences, fun with his teammates etc...
