Well done Rogi, still having a hard time adjusting returning serve on grass.
Richie he played brilliantly shame they had to meet so early

Sounds like a competitive match. Did anyone here see it?

Close match and exciting. Gasquet did well and it good on grass, but Federer is not yet at his best on grass, especially regarding his play from the basline; you could see this in some situations and he himself also knows it when you saw his reaction after some points.

Well done Roger! Great effort from Richard though, I hope he can take some confidence from this for Nottingham!

Rogi I guess it's good to have a very tough match early in the grass season, he must be getting some rhythm now I have to admitt I was very afraid after Rogi wasted 2 mps in the second set, we all know what happened in Monte Carlo last year.. anyways keep up the good play Rogi !!!

What a match!!!!!
Can anyone rememger last year Halle first round between Roger and Soderling?
This match gave me the same feeling to that one.

So how did Roger look today. Of course no coverage of Halle (or Queens) here in the USA. I'm so glad I have the tennis channel so I can see 1999 davis cup tie between USA and GBR.

Roger said in his presser yesterday that he was struggling with the returns. Meetingn a quality opponent like Gasquet early on is very good practice though. I feel bad they had to meet so early esp if Ritchie was playing well.

Not bad but not sharp as he can be on grass, his timing on returns is still late. Understandable since he just got back from clay. And like Neely said, he seems a little unsure about when to attack from the baseline, and when to come in. Hopefully that will pick up with more matches. Who does he play next?

Great played from both. Hopefully Gasquet will be seeded at Wimbledon.
