Federer out of Halle, the draw is now much more open for Jarkko, if he can finally overcome Vliegen.

Just read Jarkko's interview after the Nadal match on the previous page. Wow, he answered incredibly well to the questions, he was so reflective about his own game and tennis in general.

Anyway, good luck to Jarkko against Kristof tomorrow!

I think he's finally going beat the skinny Belgian. He'll be the more confident and mentally stronger one this time around.

Jarkko def. Vliegen 6-3, 6-1. Great win! Second round encounter against Andrei Pavel. Everything is looking much more open now, when Roger is out

Always dangerous to think like that

Seriously, Pavel is such a great shotmaker that I just hope Jarkko can mix it up well on Thursday. But Jarkko evidently feels good about his game, finally, so it's very promising.

I also liked his comment after the Vliegen match. Jarkko said that on grass you don't need to serve fast but accurately and with high percentage. He's learned from Nadal.

Jarkko def. Pavel 7-6(5) 3-6 6-1

only saw the third set (work ), where Jarkko moved the tiring Pavel well from side to side

Jarkko was much better in the first set, but Andrei used all his breakpoints. Thats why it was so tight.

In the second set it was 3-3 and the rest lasted about 3 minutes. Andrei was better in the second. Jarkko had no breakpoints.

Now lets hoep that Gicquel beats Becker so Jarkko can proceed to semi-finals more easily.
Berdych or Youzhny? I think that Youzhny may be better for Jarkko at this surface.

Well done Jarkko. More points is still needed. In Wimbledon, there is 250 points to defend. That is not going to be easy.

ps. Good thinf that Urheilukanava showed the game and Robin and Marcos kept fighting for a laong time. I only missed 3 fist games from the first set.

Youzhny is out. Back injury. That means Berdych after Becker on Gicquel. Opponent in the final would be..

Koh - Bla 46 76 76
Bag-May 75 63

Bag-Koh 64 46 76

Marcos in the final? Jarkko had playd well every time against Marcos. Maybe Jarkko can go far this time.

He didn't play well against Marcos in DC two months ago, although it was played on clay.

But well done Jarkko today!

I was in Halle from sunday till yesterday and I had lots of fun, didn't miss any match of Jarkko, of course. He played really great in his first round (but Vliegen played rather poor, so it's hard to say something about hte match) and also in the doubles Jarkko did do rather well. Yesterday my friend (RogiNie on mtf) and I watched the match vs. Pavel of course, we cheered our best, the first set I was rather nervous, as just at the moment you thought he would go to win the set, Pavel broke again. But luckily he won the TB. The 2nd set he was the better player, except for one game, pfff. Then in third he could be a bit more constant in his game, while Pavel kept making mistakes. After the match he played a ball in the crowd, at first he wanted to play it to the part where most people were sitting, but then he seemed to realize there had been 2 fans cheering for him all the time, so he changed the direction of the ball and played it to us. How nice of him

I have got plenty of pictures of him, I will post them maybe sometime this weekend, but I don't know when I got time to resize them and select which I want to post. Because I took over 400 pics and I am rather busy today and might go to Rosmalen tourny this weekend as well...

should also tell that in Halle there is a few times a day such show on a podium where a player participates, on wednesday this show was with Jarkko. There is always one fan chosen to participate as well and I had the honour to do this with Jarkko. He was so nice friendly. I first had to ask him some questions and then we played a game together, there was this wall with holes in it. And we had to hit balls in the those holes. Both could try 3 times twice. The first 3 we both missed all, the 2nd time Jarkko could make two and I only one. So I had to give him a hand and congrats him (I loved it coz earlier in the day Marcos Baghdatis had no goal at all, so I am better than Baghdatis )

Tomorrow 12.00 finnish time. Jarkko´s game of the year. If he now wins and plays well he will get back to top 15. I will be watching.

I was in Roland Garros watching Jarkkos second round game against that young french dude. That was good game from Jarkko.
