what happened to kent carlsson?!
i remember that when i was a kid, i saw some of his matches on eurosport around 1987-1988 he was a superb baseliner.. and then he dissapeared.
funnily today i learned that he was born on 1968 and not 1958
so why he gave up at the age of 20 when he was so succesfull? a big injury?

Re: what happened to kent carlsson?!
He had severe problems with knees, had several operations but couldn't recover.

Re: what happened to kent carlsson?!
Kent Carlsson had a huge grunt, reverse kicking serves, roundarm passing shots, deadly lobs and dropshots, but 5 knee operations on the left knee before he was 22 and he retired. He made #8 in the world in 1988 and was on the way up, then the injuries continued.
He first hurt his knee at Indian Wells, so no it's not only Rebound Ace that allegedly causes injuries.
He now races horses.

Got heaps more info about him, but he had RG champ all over him especially in the years between 89 and 93.

this is the only footage i could find of carlsson. there is some highlights at both the beginning and end of the video. this was slightly b/f my time but it's a shame this guy had so many knee injuries. did he originally injure his knee playing? i know he was a big time junior.

Re: what happened to kent carlsson?!
It's nice to see Kent Carlsson from the past with old-fashioned hairstyle
I've never seen him on action "live"

I think George used to have an autographed photo of him as his avatar.

Hi everybody.
I remember Carlsson defenting Emilio Sánchez-Vicario both in Hilversum and in Kithbuel -needless to say i watched it on TV- , and also, winning in Barcelona, in four sets against a young Muster. He was like a human backboard, in addition to the aforemention.
