Poor Marc got a real spanking today from Paulo, 6-1 6-0. He was having back problems:

I just read in another forum that Marc withdrew from Sydney because his wife is about to give birth (actually, the birth was expected on the 24th December, but in an interview from 04.01, he says she's still pregnant). It's their first child. So it has nothing to with his back problems, Marco is fine.
(I'm wondering if he'll play in Melbourne though?)

Tough comeback win from Marc against Jones for his first match of the season: 3-6, 6-7 [1], 6-4, 6-1, 6-0. His opponent was completely exhausted at the end, he didn't need to do anything in the last sets, he says.

His child was born on 31th December and his name is... Noah!

Typical name for the child of a French tennis fan... (I read an article a while ago explaining how the number of French children named Yannick raised like crazy after "Tonton Yannick"'s victory in RG)

Congrats and i hope he's elated and all the family is allright. Now, let's find out who, out of all the other French players, will end up being chosen to be Noah's godfather... lol

Well done for his win too!

Gicquel lost to Youzhny in the QF of Zagreb. Reaches his career high ranking of No. 46. Congrats...

He has a weird habit of wiping his hands of his strings.

An article in L'Équipe yesterday after his match against Davydenko:
Quote:

VINCENT COGNET
He will be the French number 2 on Monday!

What a choke from Marco today against Igor Andreev in Dubai...

7-6(4) (being led 3-0 in the TB and not converting 5 BPs during the set ), 4-6 (being broken at 4-4 of course... ), 7-5 (he broke in the first service game and hold on to serve for the match quite easily then got tight and gave Andreev 3 BPs and got broken at 5-4, Andreev then broke him to love again at 5-6 to win :retard: ).
