Pheeeewwww, shaky service game, but he finally holds, 4-4.

Adrian was one break up at the beginning of the 3rd set, but was broken back at 3-2 - it would have been too easy.

I'm pretty scared of Robert. I know it was at Futures level, but the guy has won so many events this year already, he must be brimming with confidence, and I'm afraid Adrian isn't exactly right now.

CRAZY

180 BPM all the third

He breaks => 3-1
Then was unbreak => 3-4
Was 15-40 on this serve at this moment, save 3 or 4 break point
4-4 => Break 5-4

And a long long long last game.....

OUF

I have predicted a Tuff match, IT WAS !!!

He's on the entry list of Braunschweig, I thought Wimbledon was his last event before the surgery!

I Tought too.
I think he won't go.
He prefers heal his knee during July (he was injuried last year in Wimbledon qualies. No ATP points to defend)and i think he will have a 2 or 3 weeks break after the surgery ( +++++++ a little surgery => an infiltration, DONT WORRY +++++++). Maybe he changes his planning, i don't know.

I will have more news after Wimbledon.....i hope the next week

good win vs an in-form Robert who's got a good serve and some flashy FH here and there.

It was a really great performance from Adrian, not so much in the 1st set and the game where he got broken in the 3rd set was a bit sloppy but otherwise I was pretty impressed (his first match yesterday was also pretty good- he hit the most beautiful dropshots ). It was my 1st time watching Robert but instantly in the 1st couple of games, I was worried he'd have too much for Adrian, he's very flashy but at least it meant he went through bad patches which helped. Adrian really showed great fighting qualities to come through this and was really pumped at the end. I was as supportive as I could be, despite the fact Robert's coach came and sat next to me, which made it awkward. Adrian's father was sitting quite near to me on my other side so I wasn't completely surrounded by Robert's camp.

I'll write a proper report with pics probably tomorrow and hopefully I'll go see him play his final Qualie match, as well. Really great to see him playing so well, hopefully he'll qualify!

Thanks, so many great news in this thread!
I didn't know you were going to the Wimby qualies yesterday, Jennifer, so I had asked Adam if he could take a couple of pics of Adrian and he was impressed too.

Quote:

Adrian Mannarino :
Oui, cela tire beaucoup.

Adrian Mannarino :

Default Re: Adrian Mannarino Cheering Thread

A simplified translation:
"I didn't want to lose"

You were flexing your leg a lot during the match against Robert, were you in pain?
- Yes, the knee is hurting. The grass is a bit slippery, the "braking" and the vibrations are quite painful. I have a fissure of the patellar sinew on the right side and I tend to compensate a lot with the other leg. I have been playing with anti-inflammatories for over one year now. It's not good for my health, but I have no other option. If I decided to stop and wait for the knee to really heal, maybe it would resorb in 2 years. We can't know exactly how long it would take. And I don't feel like taking a break. I have to think well about the different options and a possible surgery. I had decided for myself that Wimbledon would be the deadline to make a decision...

Back to the match against Robert, what's your assessment of the match?
- He played really well at first. He didn't give me time to settle down and play my game. Then I took control of the game in the 2nd set and he let up. The 3rd set was very close. We were alternately in control. I'm glad I came through.

Was it difficult to play against another Frenchman?
- It usually is, but this time I got over it. I was only listening to my feeling and didn't pay attention to my opponent. My behaviour even was borderline at one point (he smiles). But I hung on. I didn't want to lose this match.

What's your frame of mind going into the last qualifying round?
- If I lose to a better player, I will accept it. But I'd like to make it to the main draw. I don't want to know my opponent for the next round. Last year I sprained my knee in the 1st round of the qualies when I was having a comfortable lead. That's why I sometimes am a bit apprehensive about my footwork here. I try to not overdo it, but it's hard not to on big points. I'm a bit torn between those two feelings.

What are your goals for the rest of the season?
- Last year I was hoping I would enter the top 100. I was aiming at the 80th spot. And then I had those knee problems. I couldn't work the way I wanted to during the winter break. My start into the new season has been average. I wasn't very lucky with the draws either. The confidence wasn't really there. But I'm not playing badly right now. I'm having quite a good feeling.

How is he going to prepare his match if he doesn't want to know hos next opponent ??? Strange !
It must be pretty hard being focused on the game at 100% when you never know what can happen with your knee !
Good luck Adrian !

Thanks for posting the interview. Did he really mean that he didn't want to know his opponent or did he mean he doesn't look to see who he's playing before he's won? Strange idea indeed not to want to know who his opponent is.

Anyway, I now have put up pictures from his 1st round match (2nd round to come) starting here: http://s301.photobucket.com/albums/n...t=IMG_3934.jpg

Here are just a few (there are a lot )

Merci! We're lucky to have you because I'm not impressed by the photo gallery of the official website.

I really have to go to Roehampton one day to see how it goes with those courts so close to each other and without any separation. Isn't the game often disturbed by balls flying over from the match on the next court? It must be like hell to play next to a Gaël-like player constantly retrieving balls out of his reach.

No pics of "Magic" JR?
