I really hope he will make it to the quarter so we can finally see him!
A short report here (go to 13'30): Video

He means in his audio interview on the FFT website that he isn't even playing his best tennis. Seppi arrived in Metz on Tuesday evening, so he knew he would have his chance.

In L'Equipe:
Quote:

DOMINIQUE BONNOT
When he was one break down in the 3rd set of the 1st qualifying round against Eitzinger, he was thinking of "everything but winning". "I didn't feel like playing", he says. He had just won his 2nd Future of the year in Plaisir and 2 rounds in Grenoble, he was fed up. Far away from thinking of a win in straight sets over Seppi (#28)! That's what he did yesterday, though, and in style.
Small build (1,82 m, 64 kg), coming from a tennis family, he reminds of Coria with his cap, his touch and his way to vary the pace with ease.
Mannarino is not a braggart: "I'd like to enter the top 100 as soon as possible. But I don't like travelling. I fell well in France. It's not so expensive."
Money has been a big factor in his career. After having been coached by Raymond at the FFT, he was sent back to his tennis club in Eaubonne and his father has been taking care of his career since July 2007. "It wasn't working very well with the FFT, so..." Now he's taking responsibility for himself.
Tulasne who coached him for a while before Simon is very laudatory: "He's a little bit like Gilles. He has talent in the arm and in the eye. He has an excellent sense of the game. He's one of the biggest French hopes."
Adrian is asked to compare himself with the other guys from his generation who have made their breakthrough: "Del Potro, Gulbis, Cilic all are very tall and serve well. Maybe they are more ambitious. They have a bigger desire to win. Or they have more than me the feeling that they can win. I don't know/realize my potential. People say I have a great 'hand', but my hand is not working every day!"
For today's match he won't think of "the points and the prize money" (9200 euros). "Otherwise I will get tight!" he says with a smile.

And in Le Républicain Lorrain:
Quote:

Default Re: Adrian Mannarino Cheering Thread

Playing on court 1 helps feeling less pressure, one doesn't really realize it's an ATP event.
He had never seen Seppi play before, so he can't really say if Seppi played well or poorly, but he probably was having a bad day at the office. He arrived on Tuesday evening only, he was not well prepared for such a tournament. And the surface is a bit weird, so Adrian knew this was an opportunity for him.
He's training in his club in Eaubonne with his father.
He's a counterpuncher: he has neither an attacking nor a defending game. He tries to fight.
He can't really assess his potential. It would be pretentious to say he can enter the top 10 or top 20. He'll try to give everything and see how far he can go.
He isn't playing his best tennis in his opinion. He likes to play forward and fast, but the conditions in Metz don't really suit him. So he's trying to frustrate/outwit his opponents more than to impose his game here.

Well done. He caught his chance but against Gicquel or Mahut it will be an other story imo.

What's his schedule after Metz ?

I really can't wait to see him tomorrow as a coriasimontarde:
(His game gave me some trouble today, he was playing even slower than me, that doesn't happen often!)
