Re: The "Kiwi, I think France is ready to embrace the #69 Ninja" 2006 RG Thread!!
Kiwi won today his first match at World Team Cup against Volandri 7-6(10) 6-3
Damn, that was really a big difference compared to the play against Mirnyi He played quite well this time!
Kohlschreiber then lost the 2nd singles
The doubles with Kohlmann/Waske decided the win for Germany

Re: The "Kiwi, I think France is ready to embrace the #69 Ninja" 2006 RG Thread!!
A 2nd win for Kiwi in the World Team Cup and a 2nd win for the team because the doubles once again was a banker!
first match: Acasuso def. Waske 4-6 6-4 7-6(1)
second match: Kiwi def. Gaudio 6-2 6-3
third match: Kohlmann/Waske def. Nalbandian/Prieto 6-3 6-3
----------------------------------------------------------
Germany def. Argentina 2-1
Deciding match for the finals spot against the Czechs now who also have a 2-0 record in the group.

Re: The "Kiwi, we are ready to embrace the #69 Ninja" 2006 World Team Cup thread!!
Yeah, his match versus Berdych wasn't so crappy. He wasted some more good chances in the third (had two or three times 0-30 on Berdych's serve) and then couldn't hold his own serve at any price. The first and most of the 2nd set were some good play. Especially one point at 5-5 in the tiebreak when Berdych had two overhead smashes and Kiwi returned them until finally Berdych missed a third one. One hell of a reaction by Kiwi and he then fired an ace to win the tiebreak. Good stuff!
And the doubles had to fight a lot as well, but thanksfully they could do it and secure the win after Kohlschreiber won today his first singles. Good team performance!

There was also a great point between those two (5-5), when Berdych netted a backhand I believe and Kiwi screamed loudly. Then he fired the ace. It even looked like Berdych was offended by that scream.
btw The handshake against Gaudio was interesting. Both players smiled and even talked a bit with each other. It was the friendliest handshake I have seen for ages in a Kiefer-match.

I saw that Berdych also complained about something to the umpire when he netted this third overhead smash in this situation I described above, but I could not make out about what it was exactly.
Then I thought that maybe Kiwi did again a 'Hampelmann' like at Wimbledon during the match against Federer in one situation when Federer smashed and which some people in GM already disliked so much because this little thing was 'so unfair and could have irritated Federer' But today against Berdych, I can only speculate and I don't know what it was, because I believe it was not visable on the TV screen anymore because Kiwi was so far back in the court.

OMG!!! Very good that you were going to mention that! I noticed that too and I also wondered what was going on there. I mean, normally Kiwi doesn't talk a lot at the net, whether he lost or won. But with Gaudio he even chatted a few sentences, smiles and gave him a little friendly tab on the back. (I guessed that maybe Gaudio said something about his shirt. At least I could imagine that
