Simon won 6/4 3/6 6/4. I'm back home now but we won't get tennis on tv before some time. Hope we get a replay, so that I can have an idea of what happened.

In my opinion, he underestimated Simon - pure and simple. He seemed to be wandering about and not taking it seriously - then when he woke up and realised how good his opponent was, it was too late. Simon was focussing well and concentrating and hitting the ball cleanly, and Gastón just didn't have a clue what to do Silly boy - what a good opportunity wasted. Kudos to Simon - I was very impressed with his play and his mental attitude.

Thanks Rose. I'm gonna check the highlights now. I'm still a bit disapointed with this loss, Gaston could have done much better in this tournament.

I'm really curious to see how he ripped his shorts, that's weird. He must have been really angry and frustrated to do such thing.

Thanks for the short comments Rosie. All I could see from that match was the match point. And the only comment that was made was that Simon played incredibly well.

If I had known that I would have recorded it for you - but I read this morning that you were going to get the match for sure because Simon is French - so I didn't tape it - sorry

I still cannot believe Gaston lost this match!
After he won the 2nd set, he was so confident and was leading 4:1 in the 3rd if I remember right, but he did not get the match home.
I don´t really know what happened Gaston was shouting and screaming and talking during almost the whole match and when he ripped his trousers and the whole crowd was laughing, all the last concentration was gone...

I am really sad, because he would never have a better opportunity to win a Masters tournament than this time!

Well he underestimated Simon to an extent and yes this is a huge opportunity blown for him. I mean winning the tournament would have been a bonus, but he is lacking match practice and he is fortunate that he will be able to get 3 matches in Dusseldorf.

Yes, George, I was thinking the same. There's no more opportunity to have match practice but Duss, and it's just two or three matches...

They tried something different with the schedule, the draw opened up for Gaston and he wasn't able to take advantage of that through his own faults. Three matches is better than what he has had recently.
