Re: Don't Be Put off By the Lights on the Scoreboard Roma Thread
I'm sorry Fed-express but it's 6/4 3/6 3/6 But it's all the same...
i'm obviously sad, even if Malisse is one of my favourite players... (or maybe it's even worst )

Gaston should never go to Rome anymore. He can never play well there. Better luck in Hamburg anyway.

 Gaston
Well, his match wasn't the only upset in the 1st round. He'll get better results in Hamburg.

Re: Don't Be Put off By the Lights on the Scoreboard Roma Thread
Well Gaston lost early in Rome and that's not surprising and he played a talented and tricky opponent and over 50 unforced errors isn't going to get the job done against Malisse.
Just a minor hump and he has enough time to be ready for RG as he has 2 more tournaments to play before then to get in some groove before it starts.

Re: Don't Be Put off By the Lights on the Scoreboard Roma Thread
With some friends we´ve been doing a post-mortem after Gastón´s loss yesterday in first round. None of the following is news for you, but it clears things up for me if I write them down...
As we all know, during the first months of the year he´d reached a point where he couldn´t stand the stress anymore, and something had to be done if he was to continue to play at all. Well, he and his team took the drastic decision to relinquish defending valuable points and to take breaks throughout the year. This could only work if he played well in the big tournaments, and that´s why he was so thrilled to see his tennis was “back” in Monte Carlo – it was proof that the risk had paid off.
But he himself always says that he needs to play a lot to gain momentum, and before MC he´d played in Valencia. This time he reached MC after two weeks of not competing and having had a sprained ankle, and this is the result. If he´d won this first match he´d probably have reached QFs. The big drawback now is not only that he´s steadily losing points: unfortunately he´ll reach Hamburg with no competition rhythm, having played only one match, and time is running out before RG.
A girl in the Yahoo group who saw a short interview on ESPN told us that he seemed so sad and disheartened, he must be wondering if he´s made a bad mistake and if he has time to get back on track before RG!
I hope he´ll have the inner strength to pick himself up and go out and show them all why he´s still ranked 8th, and why he´s third favourite for RG in the betting shops!

Re: Don't Be Put off By the Lights on the Scoreboard Roma Thread
Gaston has chosen to do something different and he never plays well in Rome and well he has to find ways to win when he is not playing well and this is not what happened here.
Still enough time to find the groove before RG.

Re: No Lurking Around the Reeperbahn Hamburg Cheering Thread
Good luck Gaston. Beto should be hard one, I don't expect it to be easy for him. But I think he can win this one.
I hate this draw btw, not for Gaston, but for other players, it really sucks.

Re: No Lurking Around the Reeperbahn Hamburg Cheering Thread
I HATE Gaston's draw, and for that reason I probably shouldn't post here... because I really don't care who wins his first round match!
Anyway, good luck to Gaston... but good luck to Beto too!

Re: No Lurking Around the Reeperbahn Hamburg Cheering Thread
It seems our Gaston hit with Safin on Saturday. Here are Robredo's words, from his blog on the ATP site:
"I had a practice with Nicolas Kiefer. We just warmed up for five minutes and then played some games. It was 5-4 with no breaks when we had to stop because Safin and Gaudio had the court."
