Very much agree with what he said about Murray.

He's only played 2 matches on clay since becoming a senior, and one of those was his tour debut. Hardly conclusive evidence that clay's "by far" his worst surface. I think he needs a couple of full clay court seasons before we know for sure how good he is on it.

I don't really care what he thinks about men's tennis these days. Especially about Andy Murray.

Muster was making reference to his particular game and I think he is right on this occasion, but the comment about too many people having too many unrealistic expectations is on the money.

I agreed with everything Thomas said. I just disagree with what joeb_uk was saying that Andy's result show clay is by far his worst surface. I still think he would need a lot more than two matches on clay before you could say it was his worst surface.

Look at his results raquel, his results prove it! Numerous shitty performances in future events on clay (not even high level or low level challengers). Hardly excelled in the juniors on clay either. First round loss in barcelona, beaten in straight sets in the davis cup. Not a single decent result on clay all year.

You dont need to agree with me, because the facts are there.Take a look at his other results such as grass, hardcourt and you will see he had alot better results.

To concentrate on Wimbledon and only get to the fourth round would not be worth it because it would cost me the whole American season and the US Open. It wasn't that I didn't like grass - I played the Stella Artois tournament once at Queen's and got to the semi-finals. But the grass-court time was when I recharged. It's probably hard for some people to understand but, for me, Wimbledon was never as important as the French Open.
Oh no! the purists would be offended by this comment about RG meaning more to some people than Wimbledon.

It does indicate that there is something wrong with the tennis timetable when any player rests during a grand slam. Surely the tour timetable should focus on the pre-eminence of the 4 grand slams.

In theory yes, but in practice it's not the case. Would you someone turn up, take the piss and lose in R1?

But not everyone cares about Wimbledon as the best thing in tennis, like the media and many people from English-language backgrounds like to propagate.

Is it any surprise though that RG meant a lot more to Muster than Wimbledon? He had a chance at RG to win the event. At Wimbledon, especially in the 1990s, he had no chance to win it, and knew it. Obviously he'd put a lot more importance on the big event he could actually win?
