Andy has tough matches before then anyway - Capdeville is no pushover and neither is Marach who he'd play in the 2nd round.

Paul Capdeville of Chile? hmmm.....
Might be a struggle...

Yeah, but people also say that he's better on faster courts. I wasn't particularly blown away by his game against James yesterday - he gets balls back but doesn't really have much of a weapon, so I mean if Andy plays his game, even on clay, he should be OK.
Anyway, Dougie updated

Davis Cup was a success with Andy winning two big matches as the US Davis Cup team beat Chile. It was a great weekend and Andy really played two great matches. We are now in Houston for the US Clay Court Championships. That makes 3 different surfaces in 3 weeks for Andy. That can be pretty tough not only on making adjustments in your tennis game, but can be very difficult on the body. We go from the grass to long points on the clay and the footwork and movement is totally different. It is a big adjustment for Andy but he will be ready to play on Tuesday night.

Re: The "A horrible draw but surprise us Andy" Houston Thread
Mud thread
Andy and James really need to do well on the mud considering that they have a Muddy DC program ahead. Andy has being developping topspin à la Nadal, want to see how it works Both Andy and James only have to improve their patience and James really needs a win in a 5 setter and if it comes on clay the better it is.
So I pray for an Andy vs James in the final

Liverpool FC need to return to the good old days when the players were born and bred locally. Dalglish, Keegan, McDermott, Kennedy, Lawrenson, Hansen, Grobelaar, Toshack, Molby ........ or were they just the Chelsea of the 70's buying the best talent available in the market?

Re: The "A horrible draw but surprise us Andy" Houston Thread
Blurb from the Houston paper
============
Roddick loves surface
Fresh from playing the hero for the U.S. Davis Cup team in California, Andy Roddick spent 90 minutes on the Gallery Furniture Stadium court, then pronounced it fixed.
Good thing, considering Westside spent half a million dollars redoing the red-clay surfaces after last year's myriad problems.
"For four years it was a great court, then they had an off year, but this year it's back to being exceptional," Roddick said. "I felt bad for Linda ( McIngvale, the club's owner/director) because the players who played here for the first time, that was going to be their first impression of this event."
Westside is practically Roddick's second home, and he is very close with Jim McIngvale and his wife. He admitted he hated to be a critic but noted, "They weren't exactly in denial about it."

They spent all their money buying the French clay. Nothing left to improve the website.

You all are so quick witted. So isn't strange that he is playing Capdeville? Poetic something. Ok I need to fend off the mothers coming to scope out the swingset I put up for sale today. Maybe I will get my asking price afterall

I guess he has to save to pay for Haas and Marcos showing up fees. Andy only needs an ice cream.
