Re: ***The [insert witty comment here] Miami thread***
I don't think Roger should change his game to try and beat one player. He may have to tweak a few things, but I still think he has the game to beat Rafa.

Re: ***The [insert witty comment here] Miami thread***
Rofe had a great comment on Moya-Thuggy match thread in GM. "Man of the house has to win sometimes. Else too much friction
Move on nothing to see here."
Beyond that, it shows how seriously Thugs is taking Roger's challenge in Paris. Since he got to play his beloved mentor in his first match, it made for a perfect time to duck out & get back to Europe to rest up & start practicing for Paris. Roger would be wise to do likewise, but sticking around to pick up a few pts. first. Thuggy didn't play IW last yr, so he could substitute points w/out losing too too much.

Re: ***The [insert witty comment here] Miami thread***
No way Rafa intentionally lost this match or doesn't care he's out of Miami. This was the one HC event everyone thought he'd perform the best at because of the slower surface. Just imagine if he and Roger had made the finals here and he beat Roger...what do you think Roger's mental state would be going into the clay court season? Yes, Rafa picked up points in IW but didn't he drop some clay court events that he played last year? Not sure how deep in those tournaments he went, but didn't he lose some points there?

Re: ***The [insert witty comment here] Miami thread***
Here's Rafa's Entry Rank Point situation.
Rafa's points from his best 18
Lapsed from 2005
Aus Open 150
Costa Do Sauipe 175
Acapulco 250
Remaining from 2005
Miami 350 (will fall out next rankings)
Monte Carlo 500
Barcelona 300
Rome 500
Roland Garros 1000
Wimby 35
Bastad 175
Stuttgart 250
Canada 500
Cinci 5
US Open 75
Beijing 175
Madrid 500
From 2006 wins
Marseilles 90 (not enough to make his best 18)
Dubai 300
Indian Wells 225
Miami 5 (will add into his next rankings)
Fed is defending 500 points in Miami himself. If Fed makes the semifinals or better, the gap between him and Nadal will increase.

Re: ***The [insert witty comment here] Miami thread***
Now that Roger is going to play his first match, I guess I will change the title. Still lame, but better than before I hope. Thanks to all those that contributed.
Good luck on your first match Roger.

Re: ***The "Defend your title under the Miami Heat" thread***
The Miami Heat is an NBA basketball team, but I think in the past years it's pretty humid and hot as well, so I thought the "pun" would apply here.
I believe Roger's match is going to start in approximately 2 hours. Good luck!

Re: ***The "Defend your title under the Miami Heat" thread***
I hope they just haven't updated to April 2nd, so they didn't have the final listed. I guess we should check back tomorrow and see if they will change the schedule. Usually they show the final tape delayed even if they don't show it live...
