Re: Another Grand Slam for Andy -- EVER?????
Oh of course. Andy is too good not to win another slam. I just think Dean is sending him down the wrong path. We all saw what Andy can do with a good coach. Since Dean's been on I've never seen Andy so passive. It harks back to his junior days. Two 1st round losses in a row at hard court slams are just bad.
In the immortal words of Ray Charles- Hit the road Dean and don't ya come back no more.

Have you ever seen Andy so fit before? No. Have you ever seen Andy's BH this well? No. Have you ever seen Andy's volleys like they are now? No.
All of that has happened since Dean started working with him. I certainly believe a coach change wouldn't be good right now but a MENTALITY change would.
This thread is just inapropiate, especially right now and right here. We are all Andy fans here and saying he won't win a slam ever would not be the smartest response coming from a fan.
So all in all the thread is pretty useless.

Yes we are all Andy fans here so no need to get defensive. As for Dean sure he's worked on Andy's bh. Sure Andy is super fit. But where has that gotten him? All I'm saying is Dean isn't a great match up for Andy. Andy split with Brad after their good run together. I really can't see Andy sticking with Dean after all of this.

Re: Another Grand Slam for Andy -- EVER?????
Obviously my vote goes for yes...maybe it's just wishful thinking, or maybe it's clearly going to happen. Either way, it's completely possible. The guy's what, 23? He has a long career ahead of him (*hopefully*), so to rule out another slam is just dumb.

This thread exists because of my extreme bitterness. I'm eaten up with bitterness and sadness right now.

Brad had already done his work. He had improved Andy's mind and Andy's way to use his game. He couldn't make him improve his fitness, his shots etc. That's what he needed and got from Dean, and after Roger came, he lost a lot of his confidence which made him play a lot more tentatively to every player. He wants to change that. He doesn't need another coach for that, he needs a friggin sports psycologist. But he won't get it so...
I'm not just talking about your response you know, you're entitled to your opinion but I'm just saying this thread is pretty useless here.

We all are mad, sad and bitter right now, but a thread like this reminding us of how Andy lost in the AO was not exactly necessary.

Yes that was my feeling -- after Roger, Andy seemed to develop a sort of inferiority complex and couldn't cope with things like he used to could.
Andy needs to forget competing with Roger; Roger is in a different existential zone from the rest of the players & will probably be known as the greatest ever, so Andy needs to fulfill Andy's own potential, which he is not doing right now.

Isn't part of a coaches job to instill confidence in their player? If ur coach can't get u motivated or pumped about ur game then he's useless. Not only did Brad help Andy with his game he infused Andy with confidence cause he believed in him. I'm sure Dean is a great person and means well but his "improvements" haven't done much in the way of results.

Re: Another Grand Slam for Andy -- EVER?????
I don't like this thread, but it asks an important question, difficult though it may be to answer.
I say, it isn't in the coaching, it isn't in the equipment, it isn't in the clothing. It all lies with Andy himself. Personally I don't know what's going on with him, but from what I've seen of his performance it's a mixture of complacency and lack of confidence that's been losing him these matches.

Re: Another Grand Slam for Andy -- EVER?????
things are not going to get better by themselves/ he needs some sort of change. a change in coach will be a good start even if dean is a nice guy he needs to go.
these are andys peak years, he wastes another year or 2 and he will need a miracle to win another slam.
