Stupid Journalism at Press Conferences. RG/ITWA bans press transcripts
Now I can understand why Rios is a bit of a prick with some journalists. I was doing some research and came across this interview. This transcript shows that intelligence isn't always necessary to have a job as a tennis journalist.
MONTE CARLO, MONACO
April 19, 1994
C. DOSEDEL/M. Rosset
6-2, 6-3
AN INTERVIEW WITH
MARC ROSSET
Q. Nice and Monte Carlo was a bad start for the season.
MARC ROSSET: Why do you think Nice was bad?
Q. But it didn't work out well.
MARC ROSSET: Well, if you think a semifinal for the first tournament on clay in the season is a bad result, then my season is going to be very difficult.
Q. But we thought you would be able to go to the finals.
MARC ROSSET: Well, I am sorry that I disappointed you.
Q. The conditions today were quite difficult with the clay, the balls?
MARC ROSSET: Yes, it is more complicated for me. It is better on fast surfaces where the rallies are shorter, but with heavy balls and slow clay like here, it is more complicated for me, and also I can't rely on my forehand and serve to make so many points.
Q. But you know you should win that kind of match to improve your ranking?
MARC ROSSET: I think I know what I have to do; I have been for many years on the circuit so I think I know what I have to do.
Q. But you are not happy that you didn't improve your ranking better?
MARC ROSSET: Of course I would like to go further.
Q. Are you happy that you lost?
MARC ROSSET: Happy? Delighted.

What a great answer. Imagine someone who was leading 6-0 6-0 5-0 40-0 , and they ended up losing. Oh no that could have been Andrei Medvedev in the 99 French Open final.

Re: No Wonder some plays think Tennis journalists are stupid
One of the stupid things this season was at Wimbly when Ivo defeated Lleyton. Ivo stutters and it took him a minute to tell the reporters the names of his parents and this lady then dares to ask him how to spell it.

Re: No Wonder some plays think Tennis journalists are stupid
All the interviews to Thomas Muster were :
Do you like being called a claycourt specialist?
Now that you are winning on hard courts, do you think you are proving you are more than a clay court specialist?
Why do you like clay so much?
And they always ask to Coria and Cańas what they think of Guillermo Vilas, you know, they share the same name.....

Marc Rosset is a cool guy for sure, then again two of his best friends are Goran Ivanisevic and Marat Safin, so you can imagine the antics that these three got up to.

Muster's interviews were quite interesting especially when he was commenting on the US Open scheduling and Brad Gilbert.

Just because they are from Argentina and have the same name, good to see them asking the tough questions. Speaking of Coria, I remember when Alberto Mancini was young and handsome and could hit a great backhand. Now he looks fat and has lost his hair, it must be all that good Argentine beef.

Yeah, and also why do they think that Argentina is coming up with so many players, etc...

Ilhame here are a few Rosset stories for you.
This is from when Tarango and Rosset played doubles together. Tarango and Marc Rosset were losing their doubles match to Ellis Ferriera and Rick Leach. Tarango dared Rosset to see how far he could hit a ball from the court they were playing on. So Rosset did. Which earned a penalty from the chair umpire.
When he was playing the Kremlin Cup a few years ago. Marc and a few guys had a camera and a football, they went to Red Square doing the tourist thing. Then they got the football out and he decided to do some foot juggling in front of Red Square and they were filming it.
Needless to say that is not the best thing to do, Rosset, the cameraman and the other guy were chased by the Russian police back to the hire car. He didn't get into shit for it, then again 2m tall guys with blond curly hair must be a common appearance in Russia.
There are other ones like when some clown was giving him shit in a club, he flattened him and then he mooned the umpire when he wasn't looking.

It was bad when Safin and Rosset were both living in Geneva. I know some people in Geneva and Safin's training regime was very interesting.
When Marc won the Olympics he was out on the piss every night during the Games, and he beat some excellent players during the tournament.
