I can name a few girls who would not mind

i hope this match is on tv... i haven't seen kiwi on tv since uso and it would be lovely to see him this early in the season since normally in the usa we only get to see him like once or twice a year.

auf gehts kiwi!

Going on Kiwi's latest entry on his HP, he doesn't sound too optimistic about his injury. I have a feeling that Ferrero could beat him (hopefully not, obviously!). It will be interesting to see if Eurosport will show the match, as it could clash with Tommy Haas's, and Tommy seems to be more popular with the tv producers

he regrouped nicely after the 2nd set
but the more I watch him play the more I am ashamed at his on-court behaviour. I mean, it seems like its getting worse with every match

Show me a fist pump, Kiwi!!!!!!!
Incredible how intense he was again in the fourth set, it was a very interesting part of the match to watch. Kiefer came out playing the 4th set again with a bit more determination and pulled through in some strokes, especially forehand that were important points.
Very good work that he didn't rely on his only break in the fourth, but did everything to break Ferrero for a 2nd time to make things clear and not have pressure to hold serve twice more.

Did you notice he didn't play or try one proper backhand longline the whole match when engaged in the baseline rallies? I just don't understand it why he doesn't try that shot, there have been so many possibilities in the backhand-backhand or backhand-forehand rallies when Ferrero had his backhand side wide open. This shows he could have a lot of more confidence in his offensive game, but he did very well to retrieve lots of shots and his defense and serving was great.

I just hope he doesn't waste his chance against Chela to reach the QF. It's hard to say what to expect from Chela, but on non-clay he has to be clearly rated as an opponent to beat.

OMG YES! Like how much did they show??? It seemed like 2 hours at least. I know they started showing it before 11:30 (central) and I was finally able to stop my VCR just before 2am. I LOVE ESPN2 and Patty Mac. They win at life for showing/being nice to Kiwi haha! And that was one of the best matches I've ever seen of Kiwi's. I am so very happy for him.

So, Mary, we had like Kiwi AND Panic! last night (um, this morning), so it was an extremely good day for us!

GO KIWI!!!!!!

Default Re: Australian tour

Nicolas Kiefer's Australian Open 2006 campaign is starting to gather momentum after a less-than-ideal preparation that saw him retire injured during both of his lead-in tournaments.

A back injury forced him out of the Hopman Cup after singles victories over Australian Wayne Arthurs and Argentine Gaston Gaudio, and a rolled ankle forced him to retire from his semi-final encounter with Andy Roddick at Kooyong.

However, after three tough matches at Melbourne Park he feels like he's building up a head of steam, with the latest of those three matches a rugged four-set win against No.15 seed Juan Carlos Ferrero on Vodafone Arena on Day Six.

The No.21 seed says it was the first time so far in the tournament that his disrupted lead-in and associated injury problems haven't affected him on-court.

"(Against Ferrero) I was much better, fitness‑wise there's no problem - everything is so far under control," Kiefer says. "I focused much more on my game, not so much on my ankle - it helped."

"Especially when I played my game … and I didn't let him play his game. I felt much more comfortable than last two matches."

Considering his faltering start to the year and his recent record at the Open - in his past three appearances he had suffered three consecutive first-round defeats - the German has done well to make it this far.

Especially when you take into account he was two sets down in his first-round encounter with Thai danger man Paradorn Srichapan, before fighting his way back for a morale-boosting win.

The toughness of his progression through the opening rounds is a positive and not a negative though, according to Kiefer.

"It gives me a lot of confidence," he says. "I'm happy that I can put some different things together in my game, what I was working on. I mean, especially on Saturday I was very happy with my serve."

"I was serving very good. Also from the baseline, I was playing much more aggressive. After a win, you feel always good."

Kiefer faces Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela in the fourth-round.

I KNOW! They showed sets 2-4. i cannot remember off hand if we got any of the first set... I haven't slept yet thanks to these drugs I'm on for my strep throat. It says on the bottle that they can make children excitable so I guess I'm a child I love how they were defending Kiwi's trash talking! Woot!

OMC Amanda! I was dying! I had Krista on the phone to let me know right before Panic! came out so I could quick switch tapes to tape them. They were AMAZING last night!!!! Now that is what they sound like live! I hope you guys loved them! I was dancing around my living room like a madwoman last night!!!!

Lots of German fans there cheering for Kiwi in German the entire match too. It was very great to see he has that support there! Auf Gehts Kiwi !!!!
