Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players
I wish that Jarkko´s year will be good, even if the start hasn´t been so good.. :/
I think that Juho will also have a great year and rise in the rankings

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players
Man, I can't tell whether Jarkko is playing as poorly as he did in Adelaide (harsh, but true!). His first and second round qualifying opponents retired with leg injuries!
Rd 1 - Michael Ryderstedt 64 03 ret. with hamstring.
Rd 2 - Olivier Mutis64 05 (I think?) ret. with quad problems... poor guy! He was walking around afterwards with a bag of ice taped to his leg

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players
I think we will have reason to celebrate, if Jarkko makes more than 4 games against Melzer tomorrow. And the only chance I see for him is another injury for his opponent.

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players
That's true. I hope he can achieve something respectable. I hope this slump wont continue too much longer. Frankly, I'm sick of it! And... for the second time this week, he gets the only other guy in the draw that i'm interested in! First Ryderstedt, now Jurgen!

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players
I couldn't believe it when I saw today's scores Kristen!!! Did you ask Jarkko whether he had amnesia and had forgotten how to play tennis??? (and maybe he suffered a knock to the head last night and regained his memory?)

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players
Yesterday, a well-known finnish site said that Jarkko didn't show his best level against Clement, because he knew before the match, that he will get the lucky loser spot, if he loses. I thought it's ridiculous, cause Jarkko is a fighter, but maybe it's really true.
come on Jarkko

Comments by bob Larson:
Mark Philippoussis was supposed to get a wildcard, but his injury forced him to withdraw, letting Jarkko Nieminen get in as a Lucky Loser (also known as, The gone-to-pieces replacing the gone-to-pieces).
Jarkko Nieminen really needs to get himself together; can he do anything against Jurgen Melzer?
Nice comments eh!?
I added a pic of Thomas Johansson and Jarkko at the Soderling V Fish match lol!

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players
He was squinting so much, which made it that much more amusing when he wore sunglasses, when it wasn't even that bright (in the picture). :dag: ^_^
