Great job Jarkko! We can now say already that 'the Shark' has a good start to this new season!

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players
Mayer had no answers for him. Next up is Florent Serra, saw him play robredo today...and he is very talented. Mind you, Jarkko is playing better than I've ever seen him play before, so Jarkko has a chance, always. He has a chance to go far in this tournament, I only wish I could see his next round match!!!
Still, its always nice to leave a tournament when your guy is still winning. Robert Lindstedt has been court side at his matches, very supportive
Jarkko seemed agitated by something tonight... not too sure what, he seemed dissatisfied with some shots, even when it meant he held or broke serve. At the end of the day, he played great, and is off to a good start.

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players
Any time It's a shame I won't be able to see the next round. He's playing better than I've ever seen. He's the only guy I've seen, playing as well as his ranking indicates. Kat and I have been impressed with his play, and (superficially) his hair! His hair is great right now (maybe because I'm comparing it to Jurgens)

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players
The semifinal should be enough for a new career highest rank.
I think last year he won 46 62 62 and lost 57 16 on clay against Serra, so it's not going to be easy, but still better than a match against Robredo imo.

Absolutely. After last year's encounters, Jarkko knows what he has to do to beat Serra. I think it's a question of mental freshness: he needs to be willing to work hard. And because it's just the start of the season, I believe Jarkko is up for the job!

Re: Jarkko Nieminen and other Finnish players
blah... Serra, lucky he impressed me with his charm (post-match) and his degree in economics....
Quote:
Frenchman Florent Serra advanced to the semifinals on the strength of his second consecutive upset victory, a 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-2 win over seventh seed Jarkko Nieminen. After knocking out third-seeded Spaniard Tommy Robredo in the quarterfinals, Serra upset Nieminen, crediting off-season fitness work as the key to the latest win.
"I spent a lot of time working on my fitness in November and December and it is paying off," he said. "Now I have beaten two players in the Top 30 and I'm very happy."
Serra had his chance to close out the match in the second set, but couldn't convert a match point against Nieminen's serve in the 12th game. " I think he played that game very well, but after that in the third set I knew I had to relax and be aggressive and physically I felt very good."
Serra was also happy with his serving throughout the match which saw him produce a first serve percentage of 64 percent and four aces.

Ahhha, unfaithfulness! Mine and Flo's hearts are broken... lol Okej, I like Jarkko too, just not so much to support him in matches against some nice frenchies . I'm sorry that Jarkko had to lose to Serra in quaterfinal, but it's tennis.
Kristen, you're a wonder!
Thank you very much for everything!

Hmmm.. did he do something special after the match? Showed out his knowledge in economics? =)
