What is Federer's chance in the Australian open?
The rebound ace seems to suite Nadal's game better than Federer. Therefore, Nadal would be the strong favorite for the Australian open next month. Is Federer capable of winning the tournament considering the present competition level and his challengers? Above all, is he capable of beating Nadal on the surface?

My brain hurts.

Re: What is Federer's chance in the Australian open?
I can't understand what is wrong in my thread. I feel it's a realistic discussion. Though Federer is the world number one but still the Australian open surface, because of it's slowness and high bounce does naturally suit to his arch rival Nadal who excells in such conditions. Therefore, Nadal has a far better chance here than Federer. Also there are other players like Safin, Hewitt, Nalbandian etc who can play well on this surface and are capable of beating Federer here. Therefore, it won't be easy, though not impossible for Federer to win the AO at any cost. So, I would like to know how others think of his chances?

i'd say federer vs the field is a better than 50% bet.

I think that "far better chance" is stretching it, maybe just a little! Especially when you consider that it's a title Federer has won before.

Re: What is Federer's chance in the Australian open?
Nadal should have a chance, now Federer on hard court is always favorite since end 2003.

Re: What is Federer's chance in the Australian open?
We've got some very sensitive Federer fans here.
I'll enjoy bumping up this thread if Rafa does win the AO. I agree he's not the favourite but I would still fancy Rafa's chances if he met Roger in the final.
