Richard Gasquet powers a backhand in his 7-6 0-6 6-1 victory over Philipp Petzschner.
The first set was tightly contested between the two, with Gasquet being mentally stronger in the tiebreaker. However after going down 3-0 in the second set, he took an injury time out for a hamstring pull.
"I was in great pain in the second set. I ran back to chase a lob and stepped a little wrong. The trainer was able to massage it out for the most part and it kind of worked itself out. Then in third set, I knew I had to play better or I would lose this match, and I was thinking, I really don't want to lose this match because it's my first, and you know, even though it's round robin, you must win all matches you can." Gasquet told reporters in his press conference afterwards.
"He's tough player so was just happy to get through. I wish him luck in his next matches."
"I am not sure who I am to play next, but I will be ready for a tough match. Ya know, I either play a someone desperate for a win, or someone with confidence from just winning, so ya know, is unique situation. I will just rest and hopefully play my best."
