Sampras would have won the FO and the Calendar Grandslam if..
3/4 of the majors were still played on grass (like in Lavers day). Why?? Because Sampras would have had a much easier time surpassing Emersons record then he would only have to concentrate on Wimbledon and the French.
Ok heres how it goes, because He would dominate the Aus Open he would then spend all the time after that working on winning the french, i mean he would have won all the GS tournaments cos they were on grass so he coulda dedicated more time to Wimbledon, The french open and Wimbledon are too close, Sampras realised after the 1995 Wimbledon loss that he had to choose the FO or Wimbledon, did anyone notice that?? He made the Semis of FO and wore himself out then he lost in the Quarters of Wimbledon, thats why there has been no one to win the Calendar grandslam on the Mens side. its true that Sampras could have devoted himself more to winning the FO but Wimbledon was more prestigous, u can tell that he made that choice because every year after 1995 he only made the first 3 rounds, but before that he made 3 quarter finals and Semis in 1995. And really which would you rather have?? one measly FO or a Wimbledon record greater than any other. Oh and there woulda been more grass court players but Boris Becker was the best of his generation and Sampras was able to destroy him, Sampras beat all the very best Grass courters including SV's with bigger serves than him, Krajiceck was an amazing player suited to grass, had a bigger serve and was a SV, and he picked out Sampras the year that he was worn out by his FO victory. That year coulda been the Year Sampras won the GS because he made the Finals of AusO only to lose to an In the Zone Agassi (after findin out about Tim), and then he made the Semis of the French, and if it hadnt worn him out he probably woulda won Wimbledon, and he did win the USO.
Thats the past I know but if those 3 majors were on Grass he woulda won about 20 GS titles and almost definatley won the French even though it has always been clay.
