Monaco and Berlocq should have chosen Chennai over Doha. The field there is weaker than here next year, as it usually is.

I'm sure they have their reasons  Actually Juan is 2nd alternate at the Adelaide Tournament this same week, - so almost certainly he will go there instead as there are usually at least two withdrawals from the main draw - especially at this time of year.

Well, the Adelaide field is the strongest of this week. Even if he gets in the main draw (and I think he probably will), he'll likely have a hard time reaching the final stages. But, as you said, he must have his own reasons to make such a decision.

Being realistic, I don't think he expects to get to the final stages of a hard court tounrey at this stage of his career - he is very much more geared up for the clay court tournaments in South America and then Europe - so this is more like warm-up and practice with the (hopeful) chance of a few points  I definately agree Adelaide has a good field this year.
