Default Re: Andy Roddick 2005 Year in Review!

Match that surprised/impressed you the most about Andy: Cincinatti SF vs Hewitt: He was in form and took him out!

Moment that made you most proud to be a Roddick fan?: vs. Verdasco, in Rome. Gave Verdasco an ace on his match point and ended up losing the match.

Match that made you cringe:

Biggest disappointment of 2005: vs. Paul-Henri Mathieu, Montreal 1R, lost...

His best win: vs. Hewitt Cincy SF

His worst loss: vs. Gilles Muller US Open

Best Roddick Match (win or lose): vs. Braciali (? misspelt) Wimbledon 2R

Best moment (on or off court): When he wiggled his butt at Wimbledon

Worst moment (on or off court): Eh, not sure.

Worst choke: Eek. not sure... I probably agree with Deb, though, Roland Garros vs. Acasuso

Best Andy quote in 2005: The Wimbledon "What does it smell or taste like" thing or "Hopefully sitting beside a really good-looking wife" LOL

Besides Federer, who will Andy's nemesis be for 2006?: Hewitt, mainly!

Slam you thought Andy would win in 2005: Australian Open

Slam you think Andy will win in 2006: Australian Open

Does Andy need a girlfriend for 2006?: No

Should Andy fire Dean and get a new coach?: No opinion... I think Andy's problems right now are internal, nothing a new coach could help. Maybe get a psychologist.

What improvements have you noticed to Andy’s game?: Backhand and net game!

What does Andy still need to work on for 2006?: everything can be worked on, nothing is perfect, right?

Best outfit: Shirtless with shorts

Best commercial: The one with the girl in the Lexus yelling "TURBO TURBO TUBRO!"

Would you say that 2005 was better, worse, or the same as his 2004 year?: Concrete results, worse, but he's getting better at certains aspects of his game so it's all good!

How would you grade Andy overall for 2005? 8/10

Biggest desire for 2006: Andy to play more doubles! It really helps his game, and he proved in Madrid he can win!

Default Re: Andy Roddick 2005 Year in Review!

Match that surprised/impressed you the most about Andy
Andy/Lleyton, Montreal.

Moment that made you most proud to be a Roddick fan?
Andy/Verdasco, when he had the match because of a df yet he said the second serve had been in. Yeah he lost the match, but says a lot of him.

Match that made you cringe
Acasuso/Andy, If the concept I have of cringe is correct

Biggest disappointment of 2005
USO...

His best win
Against Lleyton in Montreal

His worst loss
The one that hurt him the most? I would say the USO and Wimbledon. The one that hurt ME the most?... USO.

Best Roddick Match (win or lose)
I would say one of the best was the one against Hyrbati in Paris. And the one against Lleyton was pretty damn good too.

Best moment (on or off court)
The day he hired Dean and when he beat Lleyton

Worst moment (on or off court)
First round losses in USO and Cincy.

Worst choke
vs. Acasuso or Verdasco.

Best Andy quote in 2005
"Because I can sing and dance - bailemos".

Besides Federer, who will Andy's nemesis be for 2006?
Tough one... I'd say Rafa but you know, I still haven't seen them play on hardcourt. It'd be interesting. But I'd say him, Marat if he comes back healthy and well, Lleyton. Same as usual.

Slam you thought Andy would win in 2005
AO. Maybe I had a tiny little hope in Wimby but... yeah you know who he was facing.

Slam you think Andy will win in 2006
Sigh... I don't know, I mean... I wish I could say Wimbledon or USO or AO but... I don't think he'll win neither of them. So yeah I don't know. I'd say the one he has the biggest shot at is the AO.

Does Andy need a girlfriend for 2006?
NO! Sorry, I'm very protective of my Andy.

Should Andy fire Dean and get a new coach?
No. Never. Ever. EVER!

What improvements have you noticed to Andy’s game?
His BH and volleys. The latter mainly.

What does Andy still need to work on for 2006?
His brain.

Best outfit
Blue shirt and white shorts

Worst outfit
Everything looks good... but I guess the ones in the cover of this magazine.. I can't remember which, the one where he was wearing that shirt that had 4485476564 colours on.
On court? None, all of them were alright.

Best commercial
LEXUS! All of them

Worst commercial
The Mojo one

Would you say that 2005 was better, worse, or the same as his 2004 year?
Uh... that's a tough question. I mean, he has improved a lot regarding his tennis skills, as in volleys and backhand but he is mentally weaker, or so I think. Also, he has won 5 titles this year plus a Wimbledon final and AO semifinal. It's a really hard call...

How would you grade Andy overall for 2005?
Out of 10? an 8. Maybe 7.50 considering the stupid losses he's had but yeah, and 8 is fine. He's still #3 in the end

I have a question!
Funniest Andy moment.
I say when he went and ran in his boxers outside in the cold Or when he sang the quote i quoted as the best quote (: lol.

Then again, there are many matches this year that you could have picked that would have fit equally as well. So maybe you don't actually know

Match that surprised/impressed you the most about Andy
Beating Lleyton in Cincy- not just the win, but the manner of the win.
Moment that made you most proud to be a Roddick fan?
Nando match, again. His post-final wimbledon speech (they always make me proud to be his fan because they make my heart smile and then I laugh, lots!). Also, all the Charity/Foundation work makes me proud, though that's not strictly a moment. Heh.
Match that made you cringe
A good few too many, I guess losing to Muller@USO sticks out, though not the maner of the defeat- just the whole 'talk him up- mojo rubbish' that surrounded the whole thing. It just felt deflating afterwards- and teh mojo stuff made me cringe.
Biggest disappointment of 2005
Wimbledon final (even though it was as expected), RG performance (as usual), Davis Cup match vs Ljubo...I couldn't really pick just one answer to that!
His best win
Hewitt, Cincy match/Hrbaty, Paris AMS.
His worst loss
USO vs Muller.
Best Roddick Match (win or lose)
vs Ferrer in Lyon.
Best moment (on or off court)
Beating Lleyton (C'monnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!11!!1!!)
Worst moment (on or off court)
ranting at the ump, AO
Worst choke
Acasuso match, yep.
Best Andy quote in 2005
off the top of my head:Q. Gosh, that's pressure.

ANDY RODDICK: Bud, are you feeling the pressure? What does it feel like? How are you coping with being the only journalist to wear a shirt like that?

Besides Federer, who will Andy's nemesis be for 2006?
Anyone good. |:

Slam you thought Andy would win in 2005
I thought the AO (blasted hewitt)

Slam you think Andy will win in 2006
I don't think he will win one, sadly. Most likely to win USO.

Does Andy need a girlfriend for 2006?
I don't care

Should Andy fire Dean and get a new coach?
No, he should stick at it with Dean, as some things gamewise are definitely moving in the right direction (volleys, omgheart111!!!1!11).

What improvements have you noticed to Andy’s game?
Volleying, his backhand slice has improved very slightly...

What does Andy still need to work on for 2006?
Sort your head out. Also, stand closer to that damn baseline. KthanksAndy.

Best outfit
anything with colour.

Worst outfit
The white but I blame Wimbledon for that, too.

Best commercial
Process of elimination only says the Lexus ones win by a landslide.

Worst commercial
Need you ask? Mjomoojhjshsjo or however you say it.

Would you say that 2005 was better, worse, or the same as his 2004 year?
In terms of game, he is much improved, his head this year was much, much worse. So a mixture of the two.

How would you grade Andy overall for 2005?
B for game, D- for 'Where's your head at?' mentality. So I'd say a C overall.

and yes, he should be doing better.

I never dream about that because for me, I was not good enough to beat those guy.

Maybe the sky will fall?

I'm gonna do most of them....not all though lol

Match that made you cringe
like deb said....a lot of them

Biggest disappointment of 2005 and His worst loss
I combined these two cause I say the USO. I mean Wimby's in there but....first round of USO? I died that night and he wasn't happy either obviously.

His best win
Against Hewitt finally

Best moment (on or off court)
When he did the whole balimos thing

Worst choke
2nd round RG as usual *sigh*

Besides Federer, who will Andy's nemesis be for 2006?
The same people that there always are lol

Slam you thought Andy would win in 2005
Wimby....possibly AO

Slam you think Andy will win in 2006
hopefully the third time is the charm and Wimby will be the victor....AO? lol
RG!!!!!!

Does Andy need a girlfriend for 2006?
Yes....Mandy

Should Andy fire Dean and get a new coach?
No....but he should go to a sports psychologist and get some help

Best outfit
Blue cause it was gorgeous

Best commercial
Lexus commercials all the way

Worst commercial
Do I smell the M word? and no not my name

Would you say that 2005 was better, worse, or the same as his 2004 year?
I'm half and half on this but I'm sorta leaning towards the worse in a way.

How would you grade Andy overall for 2005?
Bish...

Best Andy quote in 2005

Besides Federer, who will Andy's nemesis be for 2006?

Nadal/Gasquet (though they won't beat him all the time, i'd say they split their meetings)

none

Slam you think Andy will win in 2006

Wimbledon

Does Andy need a girlfriend for 2006?

YES BADLY!

Should Andy fire Dean and get a new coach?

nope, if Andy's 'sucking' its 100% his fault

What improvements have you noticed to Andy’s game?

smarter serves, mixing it up more, better volleys, improved fitness, solid backhand

What does Andy still need to work on for 2006?

standing on/inside the baseline to bully opponents, get more of an attacking mindset, rip a few returns every second return game just to get any confidence

Best outfit

blue/green lacoste polos

Worst outfit

Boring white/grey and black/grey reebok shit at the beginning of the year/ all white lacoste outfit FUCK STOP!

Best commercial

Liked them all

Worst commercial

Would you say that 2005 was better, worse, or the same as his 2004 year?

almost the same (the only "worse" thing this year was that retarded 1r uso loss)

B

Default Re: Andy Roddick 2005 Year in Review!

Match that surprised/impressed you the most about Andy
Andy's run to the final in Cincinnati. The come from behind victories over Ferrero and Youzhny and the straight-set victory over Hewitt.

Moment that made you most proud to be a Roddick fan?
Andy winning the humanitarian award.

Match that made you cringe
Losses to Muller and Mathieu.

Biggest disappointment of 2005
Davis Cup loss in Carson.

His best win
Hewitt (Cincinnati) and T. Johansson (Wimbledon).

His worst loss
Verdasco (Rome - held match points) and Acasuso (RG - up two sets to love).

Best Roddick Match (win or lose)
Davis Cup victory over Oli Rochus.

Best moment (on or off court)
Andy leading Team USA's exit from the court after winning the decider in the tie against Belgium.

Worst moment (on or off court)
Temper tantrum after losing third set to Bracciali at Wimbledon.

Worst choke
Verdasco and Acasuso (see above).

Best Andy quote in 2005
The tag-team power rangers quotation.

ides Federer, who will Andy's nemesis be for 2006?
Hopefully, it won't be Andy's brain -- like it was in 2005.

Slam you thought Andy would win in 2005
None. I do think Australia was a wasted opportunity where Andy's 2005 TB travails began in the Hewitt match.

Slam you think Andy will win in 2006
I will take any slam, but I am not confident. I hope Andy will win Wimbledon -- my favorite player winning my favorite slam.

Does Andy need a girlfriend for 2006?
No. Andy needs to focus on tennis.

Should Andy fire Dean and get a new coach?
No. However, they may need to bring in a better strategist.

What improvements have you noticed to Andy’s game?
Better physical conditioning.

What does Andy still need to work on for 2006?
Temper control and when to approach the net.

Best outfit/Worst outfit
Pass. I cannot remember what I wore to work today, let alone what Andy wore this season.

Best commercial
Lexus commercials.

Worst commercial
MOJO - setting aside the US Open debacle, the ads were just cheesy.

Would you say that 2005 was better, worse, or the same as his 2004 year?
Same.

On the positive, Andy did better in most of his tournaments than in 2004 (other than the US Open and Canada). I give Andy a pass regarding Miami because he was injured.

On the negative, competition went up with the rise of Nadal.

How would you grade Andy overall for 2005?
I would give Andy a "B" -- but I am a soft grader.
