an interview from Ole. he says he changed his attitude on court thanks to his psichologist, he improved his attitude to make the opponent feel he is on court fighting..he said also that he worked hard to be stable, to play all the week well and not only 1 or 2 matches, this is the clue for the change he said: stability, work, more discipline, to be more calm and wise to make decisions during the match.

"I always was like that: a quiet guy, a little slow in my movements, easy, walking looking down (with my eyes down) and i won't change that but i need to maek feel the opponent that i am out there fighting"

He said also that he worked a lot on second service to feel more security with that, and that he started to play doubles to improve volley and return, and never thought he would be 27 in the world. Said also that he didn't know if Mancini will make him play singles but if not he will be cheering for the team anyway all the time.

"Cambié la actitud" (I changed my attiude)

JORGE VIALE Y BERNARDO VAZQUEZ

Antes tenía altibajos, semanas buenas y no tanto.

Here is the full translation (babelfish machine only, but i think it's really good)

Jose Acasuso hopes seated to Olé in a black armchair of the gymnasium of the area of players. It is the star of the day: hundreds of pibes had approached to request the autograph to him, the press harassed it more than to Nalbandian and a ten of guards accompanied it where outside. Juan, his older brother (Chucho is I trace of him) guides to us until Jose, and the champion of Vine of the Sea arranges itself to chat about the best moment of his race, of the title in Chile, its expectations before the imminent debut like member of the equipment of Glass Davis. Time of revancha for this missionary of 23 years, that promise that burst in into the circuit in the 2001 arriving at the end of the ATP of Buenos Aires but that soon it went away deflating, victim of the injuries. The last year found the regularity necessary to settle definitively between the 50 best ones and to begin to dream about great, agreed objectives to its tennis, that continues growing day day. - In the premiación of Vine you were moved: you passed the microphone without being able to finish a phrase. About what you thought? - I was touched because I passed bad moments before arriving here. And my physical preinn, Cristian (Elseser), was not there, also deserved it. The title was for my equipment, me bancó always. - In what east title with both previous is different (02 Sopot and Bucharest 04)? - the main difference is that in Vine of the Sea I played well all the week, I only lost a Seth. I was calmer than in the previous ones. I feel more mature. - it is seen you calmer in the field, treating arm the play. Before you threw all along, eras lancero. - Yes, it is certain. In order to improve that it was fundamental to work the mental thing. Before it had bumps, good weeks and not as much. Treatment of being to regulate, I see with greater clarity which I must do in the field, me hardship as much nor I am not anxious. More I am disciplined. - Also one notices to you more expressive: when you gained to Massú festejaste to him with desire. - It is that I changed the attitude. It is a subject which always we chatted with my psychologist, Pablo Pécora, the subject of the position. Now I look for that my rival sees that I am there, that I follow caught, imposing presence. If I see myself back in a party of two years, I realize of how much I changed. - Before eras more been... - That is, always I was a very calm type, to walk slow, slowed down movements, to watch for down... It is my essence and I am not going it to change. But if the corporal language indicates presence, the rival realizes of which I am caught. One of the reasons for which Chucho did not manage to hold fast in the squad of above was their little results in fast surfaces. In the 2005, the panorama changed: it made quarters in Cincinnati, Basel and eighth in Madrid. "it was not that it did not know to play. It needed parties to have continuity. Thus it happened and for that reason it was to me in cement and folder well ", counts Jose, that in the 2005 it gained 11 victories in fast, record in one season for him. - Also you improved the serve, is difficult quebrártelo. - In fact, when having a good second service, gives confidence me to risk in first. In the end of Vine of the Sea I did not put many first, but the second helped me since it did not leave Massú took the initiative. - How you handled the rumors of your call for Davis while you played in Chile? You followed concentrated. - Yes, the truth is that I handled very well that subject. If before the semifinal they had said to me "you are summoned", it would have continued playing in the same way. I spoke it with my trainer (Daniel Orsanic), to think only about Vine. It was directed to the title, did not need to motivate to me. - In Davis podés to be until alternative in doubles. When you began to play with Dark, you imagined to arrive so far? - I never thought that in just a short time he would be 27ø of the world and to gain four titles. I began to improve in the network and the return, and like an extra in the economic thing. I know clearly that use the double as complement of singles. - Soñás to be to title Friday? - it would enchant to Me, of course. But I am going away to feel part of the equipment although a point does not play, I will encourage from outside.

I'm really happy for Chucho. It really sounds that there's been a big change and it didn't take much time till his results showed it.

Politicians never cease to amaze me!!
Of course, I´m not taking nothing away from Chucho, it is just that the timing.... At least it would be nice if they do something for Misiones´ sport "in honor to José´s success" or something like that... even if it´s a litle thing...
Whatever..., it´s a great honor to José and I certainly know that I would feel like that if my provincial legislature (exists this word in English?... like provincial congress...) would like to express their "beneplácito" (something like "approval", but that implies being proud and happy for something, too) for something I did.

brief translation:
Deputy Norberto Hein (from Unión Cívica Radical party) presented a project to declare the "beneplácito" of the Misiones Legislature for the call done for the AAT to the misionero tennis player José "Chucho" Acasuso to be part of the Argentine DC team that will face Sweden. The deputy expressed in his project that the sports successes of misioneros, in any discipline make us proud and it is logic that this happends because like this they are role models (geeeez, I admit I hate the "role model" crap) for the new generations of misioneros. Of course, in the project Chucho´s titles in Viña are mentioned.

link: http://www.territoriodigital.com/not...02556206815763

As I said, despite some of my comments, i don´t take nothing away from Chucho and this must really be a happy news for him. And I´m sure some little misioneros will start playing tennis inspired by José , I just don´t think sportmen should be called "role models", the family (and the school) should be a role model...., if you know what I mean.....
But whatever, I´m sure a lot of people is proud for him

Acasuso crushes Johansson to put Argentina in control
Davis Cup debutant Jose Acasuso defeated Thomas Johansson 61 61 63 in under two hours to put Argentina 2-0 up against Sweden in Buenos Aires.
Acasuso riding high

Acasuso, who was a late addition to the Argentine team, is riding high after winning in Vina Del Mar last week and plays Davis Cup on a career high ranking of no. 33.

There was great expectation in the run up to the match against Johansson, whose ranking is just outside the top ten. All eyes were on Acasuso to see how he would react to the pressure of playing for his country for the first time. Any doubts were quickly answered when he swiftly took the first set in just over 36 minutes and downed the Swede by 61.

Acasuso overpowered his opponent from the baseline particularly with his backhand down the line, which proved impossible to return and is evidence of growing confidence of the Argentine player. His game left the Swede looked disoriented and bewildered. The Buenos Aires resident broke his opponent’s serve many times despite the steady Swede getting 60% of his first serves in.
Johansson shows his frustration

The second set went much the same way with Acasuso dictating play from the baseline and even mixing in some effective drop shots. Showing his frustration, Johansson smashed his racket into the red clay but was unable to turn the match around. Acasuso held his nerve and closed out the match in one hour and 47 minutes to give Argentina a confident 2-0 at the end of day one. Earlier David Nalbandian had defeated Robin Soderling36 62 64 61 to give Argentina the first point in this Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group first round tie.

A disappointed Johansson said, “I couldn’t convert my games and I was completely stunned by Acasuso`s game today. There was nothing I could do. I believed that in the third set I could take the lead after breaking his serve however he never budged at that point and continued to play outstandingly well.”

Delighed with his performance Acasuso commented, “I am extremely happy with my debut in the Davis Cup. It is very nice and very different to what I am used to on the circuit. The crowd was great the way they support the home team, this must put great pressure on the visiting team. I feel very confident and winning in Viña del Mar has given me the extra boost that I needed. The Davis Cup is a really incredible experience.”

16:30 | JOSE ACASUSO

"Soñaba con un debut así"
"I dreamed with making a debut like this

I dreamed with making a debut like this. I played really well, better than what I imagined. I had a lot of doubts but was confident. I went on court calm. In fact, I was more nervous last Sunday in Viña´s final than today

"The public support was incredible. I left everything on court and I won an important point to be 2-0 up. I wish tomorrow we can win the doubles. This victory I want to dedicate it to my family, that supported me in the bad times and to this team that is incredible"

16:35 | ALBERTO MANCINI

"What Chucho did was incredible, he played with a great level. He was phenomenal, very confident and calm. He had a "infernal" debut" ( Don´t know how to translate it )

"I imagined he could play a great match, but I have to admit that I expected a closer scoreline. He didn´t let Johansson play and, when he could, he "stepted on his head" " ( Just a sports expression, nothing as agressive as it sounds in English )

About Maradona: "He has got an incredible energy. "Transmits" something special for the argentine shirt. Before hucho played he was in the locker room and "transmited" (sorry my vocabulary is limited today) his energy"

Feb. 10, 2006
CBS SportsLine.com wire reports

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina -- Jose Acasuso made his Davis Cup debut by upsetting 13th-ranked Thomas Johansson in three sets Friday as Argentina won both opening singles to lead Sweden 2-0 in their first-round World Group tie.

Acasuso needed only 80 minutes to beat Johansson 6-1, 6-1, 6-3 on the outdoor clay at Parque Roca stadium a crowd of 9,000,(according to argentine press more than 10,200 tickets were sold for today, breaking the Arg. attendance record for a single day) giving Argentina control after David Nalbandian won the opening singles over Robin Soderling 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-1.

"I'm very happy to have such a debut. I didn't expect it to be so easy, but the key was to be focused and play on Johansson's faults," the 33rd-ranked Acasuso said after a packed homecrowd thundered with a standing ovation.

Johansson, who looked bewildered at times, lauded Acasuso after his a phenomenal day.
"I would be surprised if any player in the world would have beat Acasuso the way he played today," Johansson said. "If he continues like that, he should have an excellent year." (I hope so )

Acasuso allowed Johansson to hold his serve only once in the first set, and broke the Swede four times in the second set.

After Acasuso led 3-0 in the third set, the match was more even but stayed on serve until the Argentine prevailed.

In the earlier match, Nalbandian neede exactly twice as much time as Acasuso -- 2 hours and 45 minutes exactly -- to subdue Soderling.

Soderling won the first game at love, then broke the Argentine in the eighth game for a 5-3 lead.

Nalbandian recovered in the second set, leading 3-2 before breaking the Swede twice to even the match.

In what amounted to a baseline duel, the third set opened with five straight service breaks until Soderling held for a 4-2 lead. But Nalbandian then held before earning two more service breaks to win the set.

Nalbandian claimed the fourth by running Soderling all over the court.

Although Nalbandian improved his Davis Cup record to 13-2, he said he didn't expect such a fight from Soderling.

"I was surprised how well he played, with strong shots," he said. "I think I won because I moved around a lot and it seemed to work as he lowered his level of play in the fourth set."

Soderling acknowledged the clay courts made damp by an overnight rain were a factor even if he felt he played well in only his second Davis Cup outing.

"Clay is not my best surface and to win, I would have had to serve better, which is not really the strong part of my game," he said. "For me the court was also very slow but I tried my best."

Saturday's doubles match teams Argentines Nalbandian and Agustin Calleri against Jonas Bjorkman and Simon Aspelin, ahead of Sunday's reverse singles.

The winner of the tie faces the victor of Croatia-Austria in the next round.
