This tournament is meaningless. There was no point playing the thing at all!
BTW Was there any excuse forthcoming from Agassi? This will possibly signal his imminent retirement from professional tennis.

This withdrawal is good for the tournament, at least in terms of competition. Agassi is lacking good physical conditions, and Gonzalez is one of the best carpet courters in the world, so he has a good shot of making it to the SF.
