For me that's VERY bad news! If Mariano had won, and assuming he would then probably lose against Davydenko, if Gastón loses on Friday the classification might conceivably be decided by sets won and lost...

Gaston won't lose against Gonzo that's why it's a good news... it's better for the suspense!
If Gaston will win Gonzo, he's into semi? am i right? i start to doubt about everything in this master cup!

I am sure Gaston will win against Gonzo, at least this is my very, very big hope

Gaston, please make it to the semis!

I know that our hero will win next Friday (anyway, I do not want to underestimate Gonzalez, the match will be rather tough).

If he wins, he will be into semis, that´s a fact. But ... Roger will probably be his rival.

Good Luck Gasti! Every effort must be made to win on Friday!

I'm torn... betw Gaston and Fena but whoever wins, I'll be happy! I wanted both in the SFs but you can't have everything, esp in tennis!

VAMOS, GASTON!

I saw him watching Mariano's match today.

Well Davydenko was just too good in this match and this was clear to see. Gaston had more break points than Davydenko, but a combination of the Russian's better play and some average shots from Gaston.

At the same time Gaston didn't help himself, his emotional state wasn't a positive one and the fact he could not consistently adjust where he was standing, it is very difficult to win matches from 4m behind the baseline on a fast carpet court, there were times when he moved up into the court, but it wasn't enough against a quality opponent, have to adjust to the conditions at hand, the tactics he employed weren't bad, the execution was the problem.

Kolya was looking almost A-hole-like vs. Gaston -- v confident and his bro being smug w his little smirks.

I am cheering for Nalby vs. Kolya altho it could be to Rogi's detriment [the way Rogi is playing if he beats either Gaston or Fena in the SF].

It's Gastón's nerves, as usual... I saw a short interview on ESPN and he said he was nervous. I seem to remember that when that happens he always goes far behind the baseline. Then when there's nothing to lose he loosens up and starts playing as he knows how!
What will prevail tomorrow against González? His nerves or his desire to win?
He's 3-0 against him, but González is playing great, he's improved enormously this year, and he's better than Gastón on this sort of surface.
Vamos Gastón, show your feline claws!!!

Well from his own personal aspect there is a lot to play for and there was an opportunity for him to make the semis in this match, but he is very fortunate that he has another chance to seal it now, it's up to him as to how he handles it. Every player has nerves before his matches, and that is part of his job as a player to manage this.

It's a comfort thing being that far behind the baseline, he is used to it when he is on clay and he feels secure there and it makes sense that he would go to something he knows when in a tight situation and being on a surface that he already doesn't feel comfortable on and when it gets tight, he retreats.

The thing is, there can't be no what ifs, if he loses, then he deserves it and if he wins, then it's the same thing, just as long as he puts in his best efforts, like he has done against Hrbaty at the AO, that personally was a great moment, even though he lost.
