Re: Nicolas Mahut
Nicolas is in the US. He's playing a qualifier, Vasek Pospisil, in the first round of Indian Wells. Both times he's played in Indian Wells, he's won two matches, so he has good history here. This is a very winnable match so hopefully he takes advantage. Nico defends very little the next several months so now is the time to attack the rankings. GL in California, Nicolas!

Re: Nicolas Mahut
Nicolas is playing with Simon in doubles. They play Dolgopolov/Malisse in the first round. Dolgo/Malisse are the defending champions of Indian Wells so it will be a tough one for the French pair to win. If they win that they'll play the winner of Llodra/Zimonjic vs Nadal/M. Lopez so they definitely don't have it easy I don't expect much in the doubles but let's see how Nico and Gilles can do with one another.

Re: Nicolas Mahut
Allez Nico! Winnable match, that's for sure. He's got nice wins over Top-30 players lately, such as Stepanek and Flo Mayer.

He lost to Monaco, 6-4 5-7 6-3. Also, he & Gilles lost to Dolgo/Malisse in straights.

Re: Nicolas Mahut
GL in Miami, Nico! Hopefully he can win a couple matches there. Almost beat Monaco on a slow HC in Indian Wells, should be a good sign for Miami since it's a bit quicker.

Re: Nicolas Mahut
Filo, I think Miami is slower than I.Wells, just that in Indian Wells the ball bounces higher

Re: Nicolas Mahut
Actually Miami's court speed is faster but the humidity and the heat makes the balls heavier in Miami, slowing them down through the air. The courts themselves are less gritty in Miami so the balls fluff up less and yes, the ball bounce is lower. So it's sort of a wash in terms of conditions and the speed of play overall but Miami tends to play faster.

Re: Nicolas Mahut
Why does Nico partner with Simon instead of ERV?

Re: Nicolas Mahut
He partners Simon because ERV's ranking is not high enough to play Masters. However, when he is playing 250's and 500's he partners with ERV.

Re: Nicolas Mahut
Nico is playing Fernando Gonzalez in his final tournament in the first round of Miami. They'll play a night match on the center court on Wednesday. It's a good opportunity for a win since Gonzalez has not been playing much and isn't 100% fit, and Nico usually plays his best on big stages. Gonzalez struggles with big servers so if Nico can serve well he can win. Hopefully he plays well and can get the victory!
