Yay. Nicolas beat ljubicic at the Open 13 Marseille today 6-4, 6-4.
He is my favorite since I saw him playing against Marat in Bercy last year and I hope he wins the tournament, now that there is no Rafa playing at it

Et bien, j'ai vraiment eu de très bonnes sensations. En même temps, ce n'est qu'un premier tour, il ne faut pas se laisser emporter par l'euphorie. Mais je suis vraiment satisfait de la manière dont j'ai mené mon match.

Qu'est-ce qui a fait la différence aujourd'hui ?
Je pense que le fait d'avoir pris mon rythme dans les qualifications tandis que Ljubicic a laissé des forces en Coupe Davis le week-end dernier a été une chose décisive. Mon début de match a aussi été très important, réussi. J'ai très bien vollayé, je suis resté devant...

Cette victoire est une confirmation de ton bon état de forme ?
Oui, je me sens bien. J'ai réussi à battre un joueur du top 10 et j'en suis content. Maintenant, je suis au deuxième tour et je n'ai pas envie de m'arrêter là.

Aujourd'hui qu'est-ce que tu as pensé du public ?
Comme je l'ai déjà dit il y a quelques jours, Marseille est mon tournoi préféré. D'autant plus lorsque le public est derrière moi comme aujourd'hui. L'engouement est bon, les gens sont très enthousiastes, ils soutiennent les joueurs français ce qui n'est pas toujours le cas. Je prend beaucoup de plaisir à jouer ici.

Votre objectif pour la fin de cette saison ? Terminer dans les soixante premiers mondiaux ?
Pourquoi pas. J'espère continuer sur cette lancée, engranger des matches de cette qualité, être constant. Je suis sur la bonne voie pour passer ce cap.

Nicolas, how do you feel after beating the N2 seed?
I felt very good actually. I am very happy of the way I led my match. But that's only the first one, I need to stay focused.

Why did you win today?
I think that playing the qualifications has been a benefit for me. I was "warm". While Ljubicic lost forces in his last Cup Davis' weekend. I started also very well the match, i volleyed well and I managed to stay ahead.

You seem to be in really good shape by that time...
Yes. I beat a top ten player, that's good. Now I want to go far in the tournament.

How do you like the public here?
As I said, Marseille is my favourite tournament. I have a great feeling with the public, the crowd is really enthusiastic, it often supports French players, which isn't not always the case elsewhere. I really enjoy to play here.

What's your objective this season? The top 60?
Why not, could be fine! I'm in a very good period, I need to repeat that kind of performance, to be consistent. I am on the good way.
