Nico wasn't in great form but a win is a win. Can't even watch the ball on bet365 website sometimes. But in the final set he faced 3 bps fortunately he saved all. That was the most nervous moment and so excited he held the serve finally.Falla self-destructed himself by playing 2 dfs at 2*-3.When Nico won,he was so excited to scream, love that!

If he wants to win more he needs to return better.Fish is a very tough player and he won easily today.

Won't mind if he will pull out the doubles.

He needs ranking points but he even needs more rest.Found some news but this is only things (I found) he said after the loss:

Quote:
Mahut said he's going to take a break.

"I have to. I can't play in this shape. I have to take two weeks off to see how my body heals," he said. "Today my lower back, my foot and my knee were really bothering me. I tried. I tried. I kept fighting. After Wimbledon I got here and was feeling great. I don't know why."
He called the trainer after his first serve in the 1st set,but didn't receive any treatment.Kinda sad but this is not unexpecting. He is just human, even an iron man can't recover form a long match that fast physically.Get some massage get some rest, believe he will be stronger and stronger.

It's a sad loss. They were absolutely not threatened on their serves in the 1st and then were one break up in the 2nd in the very first game. But were then broken back immediately (one df from ERV in that game) and their two next service games were a fierce battle while their opponents started to win theirs rather comfortably. Their last service games were more easily won but the two tie-breaks were completely missed.

Well, at l(e)ast, Nico can have some well deserved holidays.

Quick translation:
Quote:
I've shown could go beyond my limits and cross swords with the best. It will be a long road but my objective is the top100 and then the top50. It will be impossible to live that experience again but go to the second week of a GS, I feel I can do it.

I hope Armstrong won't finish that way. I felt a twinge of sorrow when he finished at 13 minutes. We can say what we want but Armstrong is a champion marked his era. But my favourite is Andy Schleck. He speaks French, has a special relationship with his bro. and I appreciate his riding style.

I've made the Alpe d'Huez recently in Winter. It took me an hour but then I had a tendinitis for one week because of the saddle and couldn't play tennis. Arnaud Clément made a strong performance climbing it in 50'.
I guess I prefer his playing tennis to his commenting on cycling. Hey, Nico, Armstrong is a known doper.
But great that he has climbed the Alpe.

Most interesting part:
Quote:
After the match and the days that followed, the media obligations and euphoria helped me felt no fatigue. I felt no pain and it worried me. I thought it wasn't normal. I went to Newport and everything was OK, even despite the jetlag. I gradually started to feel fatigue and pain. I had much trouble in finishing the tournament and since then, I feel pain in my feet, my knees, my back... I'm feeling the aftermath of all my efforts. I'm stopping completely for 10 days and I'll resume training little by little. I hope I'll fill up with energy coz' I need to go back into the battle.

Don't give a damn about Tour de France and Armstrong, just care what activities Nico did during off season.

This part interests me as well:

Quote:
This match against Isner is an additional force for the rest of your career ?

"I feel like that but in my life everyday . I have an anecdote : Yesterday (Monday ) , returning to the restaurant with my sister and brother-in- one was trapped in the elevator to 23 pm - 30 midnight . It was 35 degrees and we were four in a square meter . I have witnessed how my match at Wimbledon helped me . I told myself that I must wait and I am not complaining . Before , I 'll probably upset and I started to excite me. This game has given me patience and more control over me . On land or in life , this experience changed me . "
BTW found some pix from getty,he posed at a portrait session in Paris.Love the 1st and 5th,he looks fierce!

I don't read gutter-press. But so I understand that Nico is reading stuff on Nelson Mandela.

I actually do give a damn about cycling coz' it happens to be my favourite sport. I'm a Belgian after all.

And I still find it surprising that this Texan guy is still so popular whether in the cycling world, among past and present cycling champions and among other sport stars. Why do they ignore the indisputable facts that we know about this guy?

So yeah I'm rather disappointed by Nico's comments because I've read earlier comments of his on doping and I found him rather clear-minded. I know people may have different scales of values than I but I think ethics is the most fundamental value for a sportsman and I believe in zero tolerance for cheaters.

But I'll still cheer for him, no worry.

I think Armstrong is very popular just as Tiger Woods is in golf,I mean I've NEVER EVER watched cycling but I still know he is a seven-time champion of the Tour de France and a brave cancer survivor.I'm just curious, did he admit he was using performance-enhancing drugs or how do you know he's a doper?

Um I am not a fan of cheaters, but people think success comes "quicker" by any kind of means. I confess even I cheated before...on exams, created some lies...I know these few things can't compare with cheating in sports though.

Since I'm so indifferent to cycling no matter what Nico thinks I won't agree or disagree either.Unless he says something like "Tiger is a good family man."

He of course never admitted it, despite evidence. He tested positive for EPO in 1999 but that was not revealed until 2005 because at that time it was undetectable. So the lab just kept the urine samples in a fridge until it was detectable and tested it again, then. He didn't face any sanction because this retroactive method was not legal at that time (it is now) but scientifically it's not disputable.

No, if you don't mind I think I'll just stop here with this discussion because I feel it's a bit misplaced here (probably because I'm a cycling lover ) and I really don't like to talk about all that. Not a nice story.
