It's a shame he wasn't able to win a title this year and yes the end of the year has been disappointing but I think overall 2005 has been quite encouraging.

Well, time to rethink everything about tennis, Juanqui. Go home and have a rest and a big think. Hasta 2006!

Ok so he didn't win anything this year but I think all in all it was a really good year for him. Winning a title isn't everything, it is also about improving what you did the year before and he has more then done that this year.
I think the last few weeks has really taken it out of him and the year has finally caught up with him. So he went out early in Madrid, Basel and Paris but he got to the final in Austria which was great and that must have taken alot out of him as well as what he has had to do over the last year to get his ranking back up.
I for one am really proud of him and pleased for him at what he has managed to do this year.
He has been playing with alot more hunger and passion this year and I can only see things getting better and better for him next year.
VAMOS JUAN CARLOS IN 2006

totally agree Leigh, he's had a good year and he's back on track.

he may not have won the match today but I was really proud of the way he fought for it, he didnt give up when he lost the first set or when he was down in the tie break. Berdych was just a little too good for him today and as Berdych has beaten Federer and Rafa in the past I dont think thats anything to be ashamed of

Your right Jo. And when you moan all the time like Berdych people give into in the end. Like how many faults did he serve that went uncalled because of his moaning at the lines staff and umpire?

Moaning is Berdych's middle name

But JC I think it's great that he's made such a wonderful comeback! From what? 98 or so to where he is now! So no title...so what? Things can only get better! Juanqui will return!!!

Oh well, bye bye 2005

I didn't see the whole match but what I saw summed up the way he's been playing this year. Consistently average. He can rally forever, like he use to, but he hasn't got the great attacking skills that he use to have. He doesn't construct points the way he use to because his forehand doesn't dictate anymore.

Happy hols JC then come back and WORK HARD to find your old self again.

I think that it was sad that some tournaments he has played, he had almost won. that is such a but I am sure he did try his best, I mean who wouldn't?

I think in situations like this, I would have prefered a straight set loss...two weeks in a row he wins the second set tiebreak, yet falls short in the third once more. He's supposed to be carrying the momentum because of that, and he's not. Physically he may be feeling 100%, but mentally he's not there yet.

Failed both his goals in 2005: qualify for Shanghai, end the year in the top 15.

Here's looking forward to 2006.

Yep, that's what really disappoints me most...that means that we have to dread the draws at the TMSes again or hope that 5 players withdraw, etc., etc.

I hope *I* have something left for 2006.

There aren't any TMSes until Indian Wells, correct? He has time to get up to top 16 by then, he'll finish #18 or #19 as it is right now and a good result at the AO could get him up to the top 15 by the time Indian Wells rolls around.

I thought he's going to finish #20 as Robredo will go ahead of him?

I think Tommy is #19 after today, but he plays Ivan next.

I totally agree. Now that the result is the same, why not suffer less pain? When I supposed he could win a MM title,he lost to a very average player that I can't believe. I don't blame him, thank god he is healthy this year, but if he wants to be top 15 even top 10 he can't have doubts in his mind esp playing against big servers.
Robredo has no chance against Ivan, he lost to him even on clay, let alone on Indoor. So Juanqui is still ahead of him by 2 points.
