Entrevista con David Ferrer

Tras la conferencia de prensa brindada por varios tenistas en la Academia Tennisval en el CT Saladar, entrevistamos al valenciano David Ferrer.

T.I. David, después del año tan fabuloso que has hecho, ¿Qué objetivos tienes para el próximo?

D.F. Bueno, la verdad que no intento plantearme ningún objetivo, así que trataré de jugar igual de regular que este año, mantener el mismo nivel y luego dar el máximo e intentar hacer lo mismo que he hecho este año o un poco mas o menos, no se.

T.I. De tu entrenador dicen que además de ser muy bueno, es entrenador de entrenadores, ¿Tú qué crees?

D.F. Hombre para mi es muy bueno, mas que mi entrenador es como un segundo padre, porque llevo muchos años con el y le tengo mucho aprecio. La verdad que yo estoy muy contento con él y espero que él conmigo.

T.I. Otro tema que se comenta, es que hay algo especial en Tennisval, ¿Cuál dirías que es la clave del éxito?

D.F. Ahora mismo creo que la clave del éxito igual está en que hay muy buenos entrenadores, están tanto Altur como Pancho Alvariño, que son dos grandes profesionales y han demostrado que es trabajo de ellos, por eso viene tanta gente buena en primicia y buenos jugadores.

T.I. Contéstame unas preguntitas personales... (Risas)

T.I. Tu plato favorito...

D.F. La paella (Rotundo).

T.I. Una forma de matar el tiempo...

D.F. Ir a Jávea, mi pueblo y estar con los míos.

T.I. Lugar de vacaciones (o ya no te lo pregunto)...

D.F. Jávea, solo Jávea.

T.I. ¿Cómo vas a pasar la Navidad?

D.F. En familia como todo el mundo, en Javea y a disfrutar de mí familia, que no puedo verlos mucho y en estas fechas siempre es bonito e intento pasarlas con ellos.

D.F. Y por último, una sugerencia y espero que lo tengas como objetivo para la temporada que viene……. aunque ya sabes cual es: VALÓRATE MÁS.

D.F.- Vale, vale (risas).

According to Emilio Sanchez in Marca today, he wants to have a fixed doubles pair for Davis Cup...to this end, he's asked Ferrer and Robredo (as well as Lopez and Verdasco) to play doubles together. I believe they already played together in Paris and Cincy, and will play together at the Aussie Open. Sanchez also notes that both Ferrer and Robredo have wins over Max Mirnyi, so sounds like he's seriously considering them for the team in the first round tie in Feb.

¿Se puede ganar sin el manacorí en Bielorrusia?
La suerte del tenis español es que tenemos ocho jugadores que en cualquier momento son susceptibles de ser convocados por su calidad. No debemos olvidar que David Ferrer, Juan Carlos Ferrero y Tommy Robredo están entre los veinte mejores de la ATP. En el caso de Ferrer ya ganó a Max Mirnyi en la moqueta de París. Y Robredo también tiene a su favor los enfrentamientos previos con el número uno bielorruso. La eliminatoria debe tomarse como una gran oportunidad para los que vengan y no han disputado partidos importantes en la competición de la Ensaladera.

¿Tiene algún dúo en mente para Bielorrusia?
Bueno, Robredo y Ferrer demostraron el año pasado en Cincinnati que pueden jugar bien. Feli López y Fernando Verdasco son una pareja más asentada porque llevan bastantes partidos a sus espaldas. Éstos dos últimos disputarán juntos el Open de Australia.

Unfortunately it seems to be getting bitchy on the gm board regarding whether or not David is worthy of being a top 10 player.

Don't pay too much attention to that, it's always like that on GM, too much stupid people who only like to fight and cause pain to real tennis fans
