You can also upload the pics on a website like http://www.imageshack.us/ and just copy the link for forums. You won't have to crop them then.
But the attachments are nice because they're permanently stored here, while the "Imageshack" pics are deleted after a while.

Just copy & paste the "hotlink for forums" you get after having uploaded the pics.

Or if you have already uploaded the pics somewhere else, use the [IMG]...[/IMG] tags to add them into the body of your messages ([IMG]url-of-the-pic[/IMG]).
