Question Has JC changed his game?

Maybe I should wait until after his match with Mirnyi to make this thread. But given JC's results this year, has he made a change to his game that's allowing him to play much better against the big servers? I've been going through his results this year and for the last two years, and this year he's already had 5 wins over big servers (almost had 6 if it hadn't been for the netcord that saved Roddick's life ), which is just about equal or greater than the total wins combined he had against big servers in 2003 and 2004.

I've only been able to see two of his matches the entire year (Roland Garros and Wimbledon), so for those who have been able to see his matches, are you noticing anything different in his game, especially when he's playing against the big servers?

I saw he played karlovic in Monte Carlo, the latter made too many UEs, it's on clay,of course we can't count these kind of matches in.
He didn't change a lot of IMO.I've been able to see a few his match, it's grateful including the match between J.Johansson and Roddick.
He's a intelligent player, must gets something useful from every encounter.
Actually when I saw his match I was too nervos to noticed other things.

Hey Randy!

I didn`t see him for a long time.
But I was able to watch 1/2 final and final @ Vienna. (It was shown! unbelievable... )

And I think, he`s playing better!
Words in my mind are missing, so I can`t tell you everything, what I mean...
Esp. his return is better now. But when he was here, his return was good, too.
And he`s got more power! Has he got so much power last months?
I think it`s more now. A little bit too late for Shanghai...

But let`s see, how he`s playin` tonight! Vamooos, JCF!

i don't think he made many changes in his game
but what i realized was that his forhand is not that agressive, not that brillian shot anymore it used to be
but in the last matches he made very little UE - and his serving isn't that bad any more...

I noticed throught the whole of Vienna he wasn't getting as many winners with the forehand as he used to

Exclamation Re: Has JC changed his game?

I don't think he changes. He is still fond of playing on the baseline. Not aggressive enough.I always think he is not Nadal,he doesn't have too much strength so I think he has to improve his skill on the net to win the points effectively fast.

But he doesn't has powerful serve, how can he goes to net without hesitation, and he's been playing on the baseline,it's hard to change a habit.I once asked him this question,he said he felt more comfortably on the baseline.
The match against Nadal in CO,he played very aggressively, but lack some patient.I think that's the same reason can explain why he lost Coria too many times this year.

Santoro,Kiefer....also aren't really big servers, but they can go up to the nets too.I just think you need not win a point only on baseline or wait for his opponent to play errors, especially his opponent plays too short, and then he can finish the point quickly on the net and save his energy as well.

He doesnt feel comfortable comin in to volley, so thats why he isnt doin it even though as you said he could do it atleast when his opponents play short and he can hit a good approach and come in, but that can happen if he actually searches for agressive shots more often. I just hope he isnt becoming a Coria.

As for playing big servers, did the Vienna final and the Mirnyi match answer it?

Yes I know he feels less comfortable too. I was talking my views that he can learn to play better on the net since it's an effective way to win the point faster, but everyone knows he won't change his mind.

He always shakes head against big servers, imo those don't feel afraid even he plays nice rallies. They know he is a bit tired after a long point. They can serve ace or direct winner to kill his confidence in the next point.

Just like he'll never change his mind about changing coaches.

Yep,Juan treats him as a second father, obviously the old man can't teach him anything new, only he can stand his coach. Maybe he is a nice guy,but he is damn useless in my mind.
