Ivan will probably get it back in two weeks because Ivo loses San Diego finals points and Ivan's not defending much. Then it should swing right back to Ivo because Ivan loses Rotterdam win and then some large points from a couple of TMS events and his current form doesn't make me think he'll be able to replace those points.

Ivo in Marseille but not a good draw
Lopez in R1.If he wins,Baghdatis or Clement.
QF Cilic or Youzhny.
Really tough draw
Just play well Ivo,you can do it.

Re: ~Ivo Karlovic*["King Karlo"]*Thread!~
It's been a quiet start to the year. I hate the way Davis Cup breaks up the start of the season. We're 6 weeks into the new year and Ivo has only played 4 matches. I hope he hasn't lost all the confidence and momentum he had built up by the end of last year. Lopez will be tough and dangerous, but he's someone that Ivo certainly can beat. Being that it's been so long since Ivo last played I don't have a whole lot of confidence myself. Also so far his service results have been a little less impressive than last year. I hope he wins tomorrow. Last year was a great year for Ivo. If he can get another 40 wins this year it will be an excellent year and he should move up in the rankings. On a bright note, based on service stats from today it does look like the courts are fast and favor the server at this tournament.

Re: ~Ivo Karlovic*["King Karlo"]*Thread!~
Well done Ivo
I heard Baghdatis played a very good match against Clement, especially on serve, and that's against Clement who's one of the better returners, so if he'll be on fire again Ivo probably won't break him, important is that he serves well as he did today so he could have a chance in TBs
good luck

Re: ~Ivo Karlovic*["King Karlo"]*Thread!~
Yes TBs will be big against Baggy. The good thing is that Baggy usually hits a pretty low percentage of 1st serves, much like Hewitt, so I think Ivo stands a good chance in the TBs. Ivo played two excellent TBs today. Even though he lost the 1st set TB today he played it well and only missed one 1st serve; that one miss just cost him the set. He didn't lose any service points in the 2nd one and almost all the points were 1st serves (the 1st 3 were aces).
It's so nice having these fast indoor courts after that crap in Australia.

Tennisfancroatia. In response to your statement on the other thread that Ivo should limit himself to MM tournaments because he can't compete against top 20 players. OK of the current top 10 (not 20) he's beaten 3 (Davy, Roddick, and Berdych) and he's also beaten Haas, Blake, and Hewitt lots of times including each one at least once when they were ranked in the top 10.

Re: ~Ivo Karlovic*["King Karlo"]*Thread!~
Ivo is the kind of a player who can beat anybody, but could easily lose to a nobody.

Ivo is currently 9-25 with top 20 players (3-16 vs.top 10),with half of the wins coming against James Flake and Tommy Clownedo.
He played vs. 17 players who are in top 20 now,he is tied vs. Berdych and leads head to head with the two above and Gonzalez.
Against every other player he has a losing record.
This is why he should choose Delray Beach and San Jose anytime instead of Marseille and Rotterdam.
Zagreb won't have any top 20 players,so I hope Ivo could do well there, and play a final against hopefully Ljubicic.
About that match yesterday,I'm very disapointed with Ivo's performance.
That was not the Karlovic I remember from last year,it was likely a Karlovic from 2005 & 06.

Re: ~Ivo Karlovic*["King Karlo"]*Thread!~
Wow, I didn't even remember he had wins over Robredo and Gonzales in addition to the wins over Haas, Hewitt, Blake, Berdych, Davydenko, and Roddick. How can you say he doesn't have a chance against top 20 players then? I understand he doesn't have a winning record against top 20 opponents, but few players do, and it's only in the past year that he's become a top player himself. With his weapons and history he clearly has the ability to string together some big wins in non-MM tournaments. I agree that it's good for him to mix in some MM tournaments like Zagreb, but I certainly wouldn't count him out in the bigger ones as well.
And yeah I was disappointed too that he lost yesterday, it seems like he had his chances. That's life being an Ivo fan, Some close wins and some close losses and not a lot of break points converted. In the past year at least there have been an awful lot of awesome close wins that he's pulled out.

Yep,I agree he can do some damage everywhere on his day,but he really shouldnt have played all these strong events like Marseille and Rotterdam.
American tournaments (which he likes to play btw) would have been a better choice.
Is he playing Las Vegas?
No differences in money and ranking points in Delray and Marseille, and Ivo would have been a serious contender for the title there.

No, Ivo's playing Dubai the week of Las Vegas.
Marseille pays nearly twice as much as Delray, it does give a bit more in ranking points, and is on fast indoor surface rather than a rather slow hard court so it makes sense for Ivo. Plus if he is wants to build his schedule around playing Zagreb then it makes sense that he wouldn't want to travel back and forth between Europe and US but instead just do the European swing here. It also makes sense for him to move up to the big ones if he wants to be a top player. I'd rather see him play good tourneys against top players and win 50% , rather than play MM and win 67% of his matches and lose to Mardy Fish, Sam Querrey, or Christophe Rochus. Of course it i great fun when he does win one of the small tournaments.
