Unsurprisingly, Richard has confirmed his participation at Montpellier next year. (31st January - 8th February, 2015)
Gael will also play again.

Any news what Richard might play week 1?

Brisbane looks like it will have good field.
Doha the same.

I think it might be a good idea to play in Chennai. Build some confidence and get some wins.

Thoughts?

Montpellier is Richard's home tournament so no surprise.
Rotterdam and Marseille most likely will be after.

If I remember correctly, Richard hinted at skipping Rotterdam. The new grass 500 (Halle & Eastbourne?) will allow him to meet the 4 500 requirement without Rotterdam: Barcelona, Halle, Beijing, Basel/Valencia. It will be a more forgiving start to the year as well.

My thoughts exactly. In addition, Monte Carlo is also optional and counts in that way.

Default Re: Official Gasquet's 2015 Schedule

Re. Week 1: Richard has played all 3 different Week 1 tournaments in the last four years, so I guess he could play any this time. Doha is most likely as he played that last two years.

I've always thought that playing in Australia is the best for Week 1 due to it's proximity to AO. Less travel required. By that logic, Doha is the worst. Doha is also the worst in terms of climate in comparison with AO, IMO.

Given that he plays an exo in Thailand, Brisbane would be most logical in terms of travelling, though Chennai is feasable as well.

Default Re: Official Gasquet's 2015 Schedule

Maybe Chennai would be a better idea this year. Doha and Brisbane will be loaded with big names. I'm not normally in favour of avoiding top players, but as week 1 will be his only tournament before the Australian Open it would be good to have as many matches as possible. Stan, Feli Lopez and Tipsarevic (WC) are the only players confirmed for Chennai so far.

Richard sounded like he was possibly going to drop Rotterdam this year (week 6), and I hope he does. There are plenty of other 500's he can play. Halle and Queens are the new 500's, and Nottingham (250) replaces Eastbourne the week before Wimbledon. He's done well at Nottingham before so it will be interesting to see if he wants to play there again.

I think Richard should play Rotterdam, at least be on the entry list. Even though he hasn't had success there.

Barcelona, London/Halle, Beijing/Tokyo and Basel however could be his 4 ATP 500's for 2015.
He could add a 5th 500 tournament which could be Rotterdam.

I think he's often flat there after Montpellier. It doesn't make sense to me to leave France between Montpellier and Marseille, if he's playing there again. But he keeps scheduling Rotterdam so you might get your wish, ImmzB!

I would like him to play Barcelona, Halle, Washington, Beijing, and Valencia. He seems to prefer Halle to Queens, Tokyo seems too quick/ humid for him and Valencia is slower than Basel.

I hoped Richard would skip this event and be in Barcelona at this point, but he is again playing the Open de Caen, between 7-10th December. Goffin, Robredo and Chardy are also announced to play.

He should have skipped the Open de Caen exho tournament.

According to this Italian article, Richard is confirmed for Doha, with Djokovic and Leo Mayer. It says Nadal is not yet confirmed, which would make sense after his surgery. It also says the full list of players will be revealed on November 25th.

I think I would have preferred Richard to play Chennai this time, but he seems to like Doha, so Allez!!!!

Wow, Novak going to play Doha.

Would of liked Richard to play Chennai. Doha normally has a strong line up.

ALLLEZ Richard!!
