ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.
Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?
ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

H. Arazi def. T. Zib 6-2, 7-6 (5). He needed the last of four matchpoints to finish it off, but he hit 10 aces - pretty impressive serving.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Singles Qualifying - Sunday, August 10
It's tiebreak time for Kiefer and Draper, who saved a matchpoint on his serve in the previous game. This could get interesting...

... or not, as it's now 4-1 to Kiefer in the tiebreak.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Singles Qualifying - Sunday, August 10
Apologies, I was right the first time! Draper takes the second set 7-6 (7), saving four matchpoints! Now we're in for a real battle.
Massu and Okun are about to begin - come on Okun, beat the Raccoon!
Moodie 3-0 in the tiebreak.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Singles Qualifying - Sunday, August 10
BTW, the people doing the scoreboard obviously have no idea of the concept of alternating service points in tiebreaks. The whole point is that if someone holds their two points on serve, they're either ahead or behind the other player, they can't draw level.

I just realised that I made my 1000th post here in a scoring thread. Never mind, you can't pick 'em all...

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Singles Qualifying - Sunday, August 10
Moodie has the first set 7-6 (2), 0-1 in the second.
Draper breaks to lead 2-0 in the final set, after Kiefer had come back from 0-40 down on his serve - somehow I bet he's still dwelling on those missed chances...

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Singles Qualifying - Sunday, August 10
Moodie now leads 7-6, *2-1 - Vanek is toast, given how big a serve the South African has. Draper consolidates the break to lead 3-0.

Make that *4-0 to Draper, helped by a double fault from Kiefer when he had game point... he's out of there too, I should think.
